Trainers Noel Daley, Brett Pelling and Nancy Takter all had two victories in the New Jersey Classic finals for 2- and 3-year-olds on Friday night's program at the Meadowlands. Daley won the $250,000 3-year-old filly trot with Buy A Round in 1:51 4/5 and the $250,000 2-year-old male trot with Onajetplane in 1:53 flat, both in rallying fashion and with Andy McCarthy in the bike. Buy A Round came in ahead of stablemate Miss I La (Joe Bongiorno) and Hambletonian Oaks champion Warrawee Michelle (Ake Svansedt), while Onajetplane vaulted by Go Ahead Makemyday (David Miller) and Hidalgo (Yannick Gingras). "The performance at Pocono was pretty dull [in the Delmonica Hanover]. That was first-time Lasix, so they decided to take her back off it, and she's been super-sharp ever since," McCarthy said about Buy A Round. "I figured if they moved along a little bit more, we should be okay tonight. She's just so fast. Crazy fast. If you wait for the right time, she can usually pick them off." Bred by owner Fred Hertrich III, Buy A Round is by Walner and made her ninth appearance in the winner's circle. She has pocketed $686,808 and paid $8.00 to win. "He's very genuine, the little horse. He's just learning," explained Daley about Onajetplane, who he said will likely be pointed to the Mohawk Million. "He's not the greatest of steerers, as you could see with Andy there tonight. I don't often pull the shoes on the 2-year-olds, but I decided to do it tonight. Once he had him straightened, he said he's got a good turn of speed there." A Walner colt bred by Buck Haven Farm, Onajetplane is co-owned by Daley in partnership with Sjoblom Racing Inc., L A Express Stable LLC. and Joonas Järvinen. Onajetplane has a pair of victories and one second-place result from his six tries, sent his bankroll to $145,750 and returned $26.00 to win as 12-1 offering. Andy McCarthy also captured the $150,000 3-year-old filly pace with Pelling-trained Rocket Deo, who took charge past the half and held sway from Miraculous Deo (Todd McCarthy) and Donegal Spirit (Dexter Dunn) in a 1:50 1/5 mile, and then Todd McCarthy guided Pelling's Arbitrage Hanover to a 1:50 2/5 decision in the sophomore colt and gelding pace. Arbitrage Hanover moved out of the pocket before the half, went by leader Wish You Well (D. Miller) past that marker and kept him at bay in the lane. Swimwiththecurrent (Dunn) bagged third. "She's a big, robust filly," Andy McCarthy noted regarding Rocket Deo. "I wasn't really worried about my filly (holding onto the lead). I gave her a few taps to remind her to go on; she always gives her best every week." Pelling sent out Rocket Deo, a daughter of Captaintreacherous bred by Deo Volente Farms LLC. and T L P Stable, for owners Morrison Racing Stables and John Fielding. Rocket Deo is now a nine-time victor from 16 starts, has stashed away $343,951 and paid $2.40 to win. "When he was 2 he had a couple little glitches in his gait and everything. I'm super happy how he's come back," Pelling remarked about Arbitrage Hanover. "A little bit of a surprise that he's handled it as well as he does, but he's just turned into a real professional racehorse now. He has other races to finish out the year - not the Breeders Crown - but he has a few other things, so he'll do fine." The New Jersey Sire Stakes champion earlier this year, Arbitrage Hanover is a Bettor's Wish gelding co-owned by Pelling Racing LLC. with Rojan Stables and Bridle Path Stables Ltd. He picked up his seventh lifetime tally, has banked $291,500 and returned $5.60 to win. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Takter teamed up with Gingras to win both $150,000 2-year-old paces. Filly My Sweet Lily won on the front-end in 1:51 2/5 over Rodeo Drive Deo (D. Miller) and Fashion Terror (Andy Miller), while colt Captain Optimistic took command before the half and went on to a 1:50 1/5 tally from a first-up Manolete (T. McCarthy) and a second-over Papis Pistol (A. Miller). "She may have been a bit short in her debut (at Harrah's Philadelphia) because she missed some time, and I needed a race for her. But now she is showing the ability I thought she always had in her," Takter stated about My Sweet Lily. "We're considering the She's A Great Lady (at Woodbine Mohawk Park) for her." Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC. and Marc Reynolds bred by My Sweet Lily, a daughter of Sweet Lou owned by Marvin Katz, Lynn Katz and Caviart Farms. She has two wins and a second in three outings, has earned $87,500 and paid $3.80 to win. "I didn't want to get to the lead," Gingras said after Captain Optimstic's race, "but he felt great and I didn't want to be stuck near the back." Captain Optimistic is a Captaintreacherous colt owned by 3 Brothers Stables, Marvin Katz and Caviart Farms. The Fair Winds Farm-bred has a summary of 4-1-0 from five trips behind the gate, has put away $107,415 and returned $2.20 to win. R Charm (Scott Zeron) converted a second-over trip into a 1:53 3/5 score in the $250,000 2-year-old filly trot as favored Delaney Hanover (T. McCarthy) wound up with a fourth-over trip and had to settle for a fast-closing second. Kendra (Gingras) was third. The 3-year-old colt and gelding trot went to Tony Adams S (Dunn), who inherited the top spot from first-up on the final bend when leader Sig Sauer (A. McCarthy) broke and went to a 1:51 decision over fellow Ake Svanstedt trainee Mr Bluebird (Svanstedt drove). Bella's Musclehill (D. Miller) was the third-place finisher. Linda Toscano trains R Charm, a Propulsion filly bred by Crawford Farms, for lessee M And L Of Delaware LLC. She has a pair of wins, two seconds and one third, has earned $155,514 and paid $40.40 to win. "I like this filly - I loved her every start," Toscano said. "It was unfortunate going for big money in Canada that she made a break [in the Peaceful Way Stakes], but tonight I'm watching it unfold and I'm saying 'This is exactly what I was hoping. Let's just hope she has some trot in the stretch,' and she did." Tony Adams S, a homebred for Sweden's Stall Arsenal AB, is trained by Ake Svanstedt. He now has five career victories, has socked away $390,169 and returned $4.60 to win. "He felt great. He was marching up pretty good in the last turn there. I was trying to get him to slow down actually," Dunn noted about Tony Adams S. "It's hard to know whether he would've beaten Sig Sauer down the straight with him making a break. He just felt tremendous tonight and raced a great mile." Winning a trio of $100,000 consolation races were 2-year-old colt trotter Flightline (by Walner, bred by Steve Jones, co-owner Mary Kinsey Arnold and Paul Bordogna, paid $5.40 to win) in 1:54 4/5 for driver Andy Miller, trainer Julie Miller and co-owners Andy Miller Stable Inc., Patrick Hoopes and T L P Stable, 2-year-old trotting filly Jersey Slide (by Muscle Hill and bred by owner Runthetable Stables, paid $4.80 to win) in 1:55 3/5 for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Jim Campbell and 3-year-old filly trotter Tactical Lori (by Tactical Landing, bred by Labelle Farms, paid $11.20) in 1:54 3/5 for driver Todd McCarthy, trainer Jeff Cullipher and owner Pollack Racing LLC. --with files from the Meadowlands--
