Greenshoe, Whispering Oaks, Mollydooker, and Hurrikane Emperor were crowned as the New Jersey Sire Stakes champions for 2-year-olds Friday night at the Meadowlands as the finals were featured on the Meadowlands Pace Eve program. In the $125,000 colt trot, Greenshoe (Brian Sears), who recovered impressively from a break before the start to win in the first leg, went on a gallop before the start again, but he recovered more quickly this time and settled into third as Battenberg (David Miller) reached the top and cut the opening quarter in 27 2/5.  Battenberg would go on to hit the half in 57 2/5, and Greenshoe began a first-over move just prior to that marker.  Greenshoe powered into the lead on the outside nearing the 1:26 1/5 three-quarters, and then put away Battenberg off the final bend.  Through the stretch Trix And Stones (Scott Zeron) had dead-aim at Greenshoe from the pocket, but Greenshoe was too strong, winning by a length and three-quarters in 1:53 3/5.  Hudson River (Jimmy Takter) was third after a wide trip from post eight. Trained by Marcus Melander and owned by Courant Inc., Greenshoe was a $330,000 buy at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.  Bred by Al Libfeld and Marvin Katz, he is from the first crop of Father Patrick and is out of the Donato Hanover mare Designed To Be (1:51 3/5, $656,166) and is her first foal.  He paid $3.60 to win as the 4-5 favorite. Filly trotters also went after a pot of $125,000, and round one winner Whispering Oaks (Yannick Gingras) drove up on the outside to take control from Given (Jimmy Takter) past the 28 second opening quarter.  Mother Bonnie (Andrew McCarthy), an impressive winner last week, then came up on the rim to challenge, but she would jump it off going to the 57 second half.  With Mother Bonnie out of the way and a parked Special Honor (Andy Miller) stalled on the final bend, Gingras was able to steal a breather in the third quarter, and Whispering Oaks got to three-quarters in just 1:27.  The speed quickened in the lane, and although both French Cafe (Scott Zeron) and Golden Tricks (Ake Svanstedt) made eye-catching rallies, Whispering Oaks held sway to win by half a length in 1:55 1/5. A Takter trainee and another winner for Father Patrick, Whispering Oaks is owned by Brixton Medical Inc., Herb Liverman, and R A W Equine Inc.  The Katz, Libfeld, and Goldband bred fetched $100,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale and is the first foal out of Vintage Oaks (Muscles Yankee, 1:55 4/5, $64,176), a three-quarter sister to O Narutac Perfetto (Deweycheatumnhowe, 1:52 3/5, $292,122).  Whispering Oaks, the 2-1 third choice, returned $6.80 to win.Lisa PhotoMollydooker romped in the filly pace final The $75,000 final for pacing fillies saw Hurrikane Lori Ann (Dan Dube) lead to the 28 4/5 opening quarter, but 1-9 favorite Mollydooker (Brett Miller) hit the top just after that, and after middle-half panels of 57 4/5 and 1:26 2/5, she drew off to win by 6 3/4 lengths in 1:54.  Love Love Me Too (Chris Ryder) was the runner-up, with Hurrikanesky (Tim Tetrick) back in third. Mollydooker, a daughter of Great Vintage, is trained by Tony Alagna for owner/breeder Visionary Breeders LLC. She is out of the Richess Hanover mare Fox Valley Zena (1:51 2/5, $286,024), and a half-sister to the likes of Thatsoveryverynice (Vintage Master, 1:51 2/5, $163,689). She paid $2.20 to win. The $75,000 final for pacing colts was held as a non-betting race before the card, and Hurrikane Emperor (Dube) completed a sweep, stepping off fractions of 28, 57 1/5, and 1:26 on his way to winning by 17 1/4 lengths in 1:53 3/5.  Black Dan (Mike Cole) got second, and Narrative (Andy Miller) took third. John McDermott Jr. trains Hurrikane Emperor, a Hurrikane Kingcole colt, for owners/breeders Jonathan Klee Racing, Kuhen Racing LLC., and Pegasis Investment Group. He is the second foal out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Hurrikane Schmumma (1:56 3/5, $26,549) and his full sister Hurrikane Empress won last year's New Jersey Sire Stakes final for 2-year-old pacing fillies. The Kindergarten Classic for 2-year-old trotters also began on the card with two $10,000 divisions for each sex.  Precision, a Muscle Hill half-brother to 2013 Hambletonian winner Royalty For Life, won the first colt group in 1:57 4/5 for driver Scott Zeron and trainer George Ducharme, and Sovereign Deo, a Trixton colt, came on from the pocket to win the other grouping in 1:56 3/5 for David Miller and Brett Pelling. Over on the filly side, it would be Stella Jane, a daughter of Crazed, getting up to win the opening flight in 1:55 4/5 for driver Corey Callahan and trainer John Butenschoen, and Speed Titan, by E L Titan, lasting on the lead for a 1:56 1/5 tally for Sears and Melander in the other test. Jackpot Super High Five Returns over $76,000 It was also a night for the bettors, with big carryovers in the 50-Cent Pick-5 and Late 20-Cent Jackpot Super High-Five, as well as a third straight 50-Cent Pick-4 that saw big action. The Pick-5, which had a carryover of $28,976, saw $192,177 in “new” money poured into the pot, for a total of $221,153. For many, the wager played out as a Pick-4 would, as 4-5 favorite Greenshoe won the payoff leg (Race seven) with ease. For those who had the first four winners as well (the odds: 12-1, 6-1, 2-1 and 6-1), the payoff was a handsome $3,536. After failing to break the six-figure barrier for two months, the 50-Cent Pick-4 reached the $100,000 mark for a third straight time ($108,434), and after a sequence that saw winner’s odds of 2-1, 3-5, 3-1 and 4-5, the return of $71.40 was respectable given that two odds-on favorites scored. The 13th and last race of the night was the big one, as the Late 20-Cent Jackpot Super High-Five had a mandatory payout. The carryover heading in was $276,939, and after an additional $260,783 was wagered, the total pool was a gigantic $537,722. Those holding tickets with the winning combination of 1-3-10-7-4 cashed in big, walking away with $76,472.76. --wagering recap courtesy of the Meadowlands--
