Best Bet: DELCREST HOLIDAY (7th) Spot Play: GOLD ORCHID N (5th) Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 6 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 62 - 178 / $370.70 (+$14.70) BEST BETS: 6 - 14 / $15.80 (-$12.20) Race 1 (3) LIPPY DOO picked up her game during late summer and early fall. She now finds herself on the east coast for a new barn and seems to fit, though it is hard to say for sure with most of her lines of the fair circuit variety. (6) DELIGHTFUL FEATHER is the clear horse to beat and will no doubt offer short odds. (4) SCARLETT O TERROR raced ok in a field with older foes last time. Race 2 (1) ZOOMING finds the perfect spot this week where he can stay close without having to work too hard. (2) RESITA picked up his game on the big track but went a bit too fast last time; threat. (3) LUMINOSITY qualified back well. I still think he may need a race. Race 3 (6) MASSIVE OPULENCE was on quite a roll at Monticello before an adventurous two-break trip last time. He made both miscues while on the move on a sloppy track, so I’ll give him a pass and expect his off-the-pace style to suit the bigger track. (8) NORTHERN CREDIT kept his act together last time and might get more aggressive with that clean line in hand. (9) LUCKY SHEILA has put together back-to-back solid efforts. The outside post hurts, but she did show speed last time. Race 4 (6) TROLLEY has come back from injury on fire and it’s hard to make a case against him. (4) OPULENT YANKEE is the obvious upset player in this field. If left alone on the front, he’ll likely win. (1) MISSLAROSE can stick close from her inside post. She’ll need a lifetime best to win. Race 5 (5) GOLD ORCHID N has moved up the class ladder successfully and has a decided tactical edge on (8) PENPAL in the form of early speed. The latter rolled past a slightly easier group last time. She’s the best horse but may have trouble going last to first again. (1A) STYLISH BEACHWARE & (1) KAK’S SHARK STTACK are an interesting pair in from Hoosier for good connections, but I think they may be best used underneath. Race 6 (1A) LANDONFITZ & (1) FIJI provide two-for-one value in what looks like the most difficult race to handicap on the card. Both horses get interesting driver changes and the only negative is outside draws. (4) CINNABAR HALL has dealt with some bad posts recently. When on his game he is more than capable vs. this bunch. (9) ITHINKTHATSMINE comes off a nice try for new connections and with Lasix added. Post 10 does present some issues, though. Race 7 (8) DELCREST HOLIDAY came up with a big mile last week and I’m not about to go against him off that performance. (5) TWO AM moves to the big track where he has seen success in the past. Four-year-old is more than capable. (6) IF NOT WHY NOT found the top choice too tough last time; using underneath here. Race 8 Here is another interesting race with no clear standout. (5) GEMMA’S BEACH GIRL raced well in her second start back from a break and her early speed might get her in the right position to succeed. (10) FANCY CREEK JOLENE put in a big mile on the class drop last time and is rewarded with post 10 versus tougher. She may just be good enough to win anyway. (9) A PLUS also comes off a win for the powerful Burke/Gingras combination. Race 9 (6) TONY SOPRANO has missed over a month of action but this Hoosier shipper seems to fit nicely with this group. (7) SHADY MCCOY is sharp now and should still offer fair value. (3) GREAT KATE arrives from Monticello off two blowout wins. Maybe this 4-year-old can step up? (9) ARCH CREDIT won here last week but is stuck with the worst post.
