Jiggy Jog S, the third-place finisher in last year's Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Filly Trot final, led a triple for trainer Ake Svanstedt in Saturday morning's qualifiers at the Meadowlands. Svanstedt had Jiggy Jog S on the lead through fractions of 30 2/5, 58 3/5, and 1:26 3/5 on her way to a 5 1/2 length victory in 1:53 4/5. A daughter of Walner who earned over $203,000 as a rookie, she is owned by Jorgen Sparredal Inc. Yannick Gingras then guided Svanstedt's 3-year-old Captaintreacherous colt Captain Cowboy to a 1:53 2/5 win in race six despite making a brief break on the last turn while racing in third. A two-time winner in Grand Circuit action last year, Captain Cowboy is owned by Svanstedt, Little E LLC., and PCW Racing LLC. Ake was back in the bike behind Rattle My Cage in ninth qualifier and tallied on the engine in 1:53 1/5. Rattle My Cage, a 4-year-old son of Love You owned by Perry Soderberg, picked up a mark of 1:51 3/5 at The Red Mile last year. Gingras would also have a hat trick during the morning, as in addition to his victory with Captain Cowboy, he also prevailed with Ron Burke trainees It's Academic (1:52 3/5) and Lou's Pearlman (1:50 4/5). It's Academic won last year's Charlie Hill Memorial, while Lou's Pearlman captured the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Championship and the final of the Little Brown Jug. In the qualifier won by It's Academic, Bella Bellini, last year's Dan Patch Award winner for top 3-year-old filly trotter, trailed in seventh but closed well in the stretch to get up and finish fourth. Also winning three qualifiers was driver Brian Sears. He teamed up with Jim Campbell to score with 3-year-old Chapter Seven gelding Cool Papa Bell (1:54 3/5) and with Marcus Melander to prevail with Jaya Bae (1:58) and Zappa (1:57 3/5). Jaya Bae, a daughter of Walner-Mission Brief who was the 2020 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale topper ($725,000), won two of her four appearances a year ago, while Zappa, a Chapter Seven colt who was a $200,000 Lexington buy, made just one start as a rookie. Dexter Dunn also had a couple of wins, steering New York Sire Stakes champion Gotthegreenlight, a 3-year-old daughter of American Ideal, to a 1:55 decision for trainer Nifty Norman, and Danznqueen Hanover, a 3-year-old Donato Hanover filly, to a 1:56 1/5 score for trainer Noel Daley. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Other winners were: --JK Victory, a 3-year-old JK Endofanera gelding, in 1:51 4/5 for David Miller and Nancy Takter --Carbine, a 4-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere, in 1:51 for Todd McCarthy and Tony Alagna --Brave By Design, a 4-yearold gelding by Walner, in 1:57 3/5 for Joe and Jenn Bongiorno --Nite Time Deal, a 3-year-old American Ideal filly, in 1:54 for Tim Tetrick and Tom Fanning
