MEET STATS: 167-55-31-18 / $292.80 (-$41.20) BEST BETS: 12-4-1-0 / $15.20 (-$4.80) SPOT PLAYS: 12-2-4-1 / $7.20 (-$12.80) BEST BET: GAITWAY GUY (2nd) SPOT PLAY: TOTO HANOVER (11th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club Trot - Pick 5 (4) FEERIEDESBROUETSFR rallied very nicely to just miss last time and prior to that she showed early speed in a victory. You have to love the versatility along with the much better post. (2) MASSIVE MATTER is another one finally getting a good draw. That he loses Beltrami likely improves the price. (8) FASHION CANTAB rallied from the back on a night where speed was golden. That said, he was set up by an early speed duel and a 65-1 shot cutting the pace.  [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L2 $3,300) in last 4 or $1,250 p.s. in 2024 (7) GAITWAY GUY moves up in class off a decisive score and these types of class jumps tend to produce repeat winners at reasonable prices. Notice that the turnaround came in sync with the addition of Lasix. (1) THE GOOD DOCTOR adds Lasix tonight and perhaps that will help him finish his miles. The speed is there. (4) DECISION DAY gapped cover a bit but did finish up ok late in the mile last week. Another class drop may help his chances. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Winners 2-4 (NW L2 5) races life/TM 84.95 or less - Survivor 7 (5) DAIQUIRI HANOVER won a Breeders Crown elimination but wasn’t able to reproduce that same closing power in the final. His race since was solid and this field looks ripe for the picking. (3) COCKTAIL WITHAKICK and (7) TACTICAL LORI are two new arrivals to the Julie Miller stable who won their last starts with their former connections. Either filly seems capable but both have missed four weeks of action. Race 4: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races life/TM 78.7 or less/Maidens & 2YOs draw inside (8) FINITE moves into the Burke barn after the gelding was purchased at Harrisburg for $50,000. Some improvement is expected and it won’t take too much for him to steal this race on the engine since his main competition are both 2-year-olds. (3) WHAT A BID HANOVER is a talented young filly that tends to race from off the pace and is certainly using this race as a prep for next week’s Goldsmith Maid final. (5) MY DEGENERATE has overcome breaking issues and most recently blew out a big mile at Philly. If he picks up his game on the big track and minds his manners, the competition is in trouble. Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 2 Pace (5) GALLIE GETAWAY certainly picked up his game nicely while keeping up through very fast fractions. That was only his third start of the year and another strong effort is very possible. (4) SPEED SNIP was even upon arrival and can show more moving into the amateur ranks. He does pick up a typically aggressive driver tonight. (2) HELLO ROCKY gets bumped up in class after a series of strong effort in MADC1; very useable. (1) ROCK ON LINE is a capable horse given the right trip. Race 6: Non-winners $12,500 in last 4/TM 87 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (8) DA DELIGHTFUL is feeling pretty good now and we know he can fly off the gate from the outside post. Let’s give him the narrow call in a race that can go a few ways. (2) BRUTALLYHANDSOME A had no shot from post eight last time so just cross a line through that past performance. His prior two starts were wins and he’s succeeded here before, though Stratton chose stablemate #4. (1) MAC’S DELIGHT wins a third of the time and is going good now. (3) BRUE HANOVER hasn’t been here in a class this low in some time. Burke trainees are always dangerous. Race 7: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2 $8,351) in last 4 or $1,750 p.s. in 2023-24/TM 89.45 or less (5) CENTURY KOMODO tried to leave last time but had too much company and when he was sent to the rim there wasn’t much left in the tank. That said, there is talent here and the post should allow him to be more patient this time. (7) DANCE PARTNER drops back down to the level of his last win after a no-shot mile last time. (6) MAMBA has early speed and form. Last week he won off a perfect pocket trip and that could happen again here. (1) JK BLACK GOLD lured McCarthy off my top pick and that isn’t surprising considering the difference in obvious form. Race 8: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 or 2YO 3) races or $20,000 life/2YO & Maidens draw inside - Pick 6 (7) WHO SAID I CAN’T was behind a tired foe, had to wait for room, angled widest and finished with plenty in the tank on a night when early speed was the way to win. I’m not sure how good he is but it certainly seems like new trainer Michael Russo has him figured out. (1) SUGAR MAN clearly has ability. He’s probably worth using on your multi-race tickets despite facing older foes. (8) JK TOGETHER AGAIN has won two straight but I’m not putting a ton of weight on his last effort over the speed-favoring track. Race 9: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 2 Pace (4) SINATRA HANOVER enters the amateur ranks in fine form and I like the fact that he can race well from on or off the pace; good post, too. (3) MAGNIFICO HANOVER moves way inside and I expect we may see early speed from him tonight. (10) CALIBER has won two straight in this class and you know he’ll be firing from the get-go, especially with Yogi in the bike. He’s a big win threat but a horse I will likely try to beat. Race 10: Preferred Handicap Pace - $50K GTD Pick 4 (5) MAXIMUS MIKI owns one of the best records I’ve seen in my life for a non-stakes horse with 41 on the board finishes from 43 starts. That’s incredible! This guy comes to town in great form and can take air with the best of them. (3) SOUTH BEACH STAR will be heading to the front as usual and won’t go down without a fight. (1) PRIMARY COLORS makes his second start since early August and should be much tighter; dangerous. (6) IT’S MY SHOW has a big shot if they mix it up and he’s on cover but it’s unlikely he’ll be used too hard early when next week is the goal. Race 11: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L2 $5,500) in last 4 or $1,500 p.s. in 2024 (7) TOTO HANOVER hasn’t been racing very well recently but he gets a key driver change to McCarthy tonight. This guy tends to perk up in a big way with a top catch-driver. (1) FRANKIE FRANKIE came home in 26 4/5 last time but couldn’t make much of a dent other than passing tired horses last time; class drop tonight. (6) BOBCAT BAY also moves down the class ladder. At his best he could be very competitive at this level. Race 12: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2 $9,095) in last 4 or $1,750 p.s. in 2024 (7) TOCCOA FALLS closed well from pretty far back against a foe that was much the best last weekend. He drops like a few of these and should offer better value than some others. (4) SONOFAMISTERY makes his first start in almost a year and is now with different connections. The return qualifier was clean and we know on his best he can trounce this bunch, so it is hard to toss him unless he’s offering an odds-on price. (9) COMBS HANOVER is another one that spent almost a year on the sidelines. His return effort was even and perhaps more is coming here. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: $25,000-$30,000 Claiming Handicap (6) MUSIC HALL dusted these foes last week and there is no reason to believe that won’t happen again in another short field. (4) HUNT FOR CASH and (1) ALTA BLUES A chased home the top one for second and third and a similar scenario seems likely. Race 14: $15,000-$20,000 Claiming Handicap (2) RAPTORS FLIGHT N drops in for a tag this week and with that finally gets a good post to work with. After working hard early the last two starts, veteran should have the opportunity to sit just off what could be a contested pace and pounce. (5) LYONS LIBERTY is on a two-race winning streak and scored by over seven lengths last time. On the positive side he adds Dunn to the team but he’s likely to have company early with a fair amount of early speed lined up on the outside of the gate. (6) CELLMATE dropped in claiming price for his last two tries at Yonkers but landed outside posts. He switches to the big track now and seems worth some consideration.
