MEET STATS: 139-51-25-17 / $275.00 (-$3.00) BEST BETS: 10-4-1-0 / $15.20 (-$4.80) SPOT PLAYS: 10-2-4-1 / $7.20 (-$12.80) BEST BET: BIONIC (5th) SPOT PLAY: NET WEIGHT (3rd) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 2 Pace - Pick 5 (4) OH COFFEE BEAN comes off a throw-out line where he never got involved from post seven at Philly. Expect amateur pilot Yogi Sheridan to fire off the gate and secure either the lead or a pocket trip behind (1) CALIBER, who rolled down the road in this class last time on a track that was favoring speed for most of the night. (6) UP JOEYS CREDIT has finished in the money nearly 50% of the time from just shy of 100 starts. Five-year-old adds Lasix tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $2,000 (NW L2 $2,491) in last 4 (1) ON TIME DELIVERY was perhaps a little flat late after missing a month even if the final quarter reads 27 2/5. I can see improvement coming. (3) BB LUCKY BOY has been scratched sick in consecutive weeks but still looms as a serious early speed threat. (8) GAITWAY GUY certainly had more late life with Lasix added but the pace wasn’t quick enough to set him up; drops in class tonight. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NJ Garden State Trot - Survivor 7 (3) NET WEIGHT scored as our best bet last week and certainly looked good as he exploded off slow fractions with a 26 4/5 final quarter. The competition is a bit better and sharper this week but he should be up to the task. (2) CAMERA MAN arrives off a pair of wins versus cheaper and perhaps those have boosted his confidence. (6) YANNICK G KEMP lost to the top pick by a nose last time but had every chance to beat him. Race 4: NJ Home Grown Pace It isn’t ideal that (2) CAPTAIN OPTIMISTIC enters this race off a scratch-sick line and you have to think that next week’s Governor’s Cup (elims and final) are the goal, but it is hard to make a strong case against him if he’s close to 100%. (7) MANOLETE was no match for Papi’s Pistol last week and he may have to settle for second again here unless he gets away with soft fractions on the engine. It’s worth noting that he doesn’t have the Governor’s Cup on his dance card so this is probably his last race of the year. (5) DO WHAT U DO showed he could get down to speed switching from the half to the five-eighths and maybe he has another move in him for the big track. Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (4) BIONIC had no shot last time when trying to pass most of the field and was similarly up against it from post eight in the start prior at Philly. Consistent 20% winner the last couple of years should be firing to the front tonight. (6) WHAMMER JAMMER dropped to this level and raced very well in defeat last time. He’s worth using in the Pick 5. (9) LYONS LIBERTY and (10) CAPTAIN TERMINATOR are both coming off victories and either could win given a clean trip from tough posts. Race 6: $20,000-$30,000 Claiming Handicap - $50K GTD Pick 4 This is a tricky race to start the Pick 4 and I really don’t love anyone. (6) JACK’S LEGEND N has plenty of class but is the midst of a less than great season. That said, he hasn’t started on a mile track in a long time and that may just wake him up some. (2) ALTA BLUES A steps up off consecutive wins and certainly seems sharp enough to be a player. (5) HUNT FOR CASH blasted and last a week ago. That they drop him in for a tag likely means he’ll be ready to fire again. (8) MUSIC HALL has been sharp for some time; needs the right trip. Race 7: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 or 2YO 3) races life/Maidens draw inside (2) BEACH CLUB MONTY was late to get going this year but did some good work at Pocono before catching a very fast race at Philly in the Liberty last time. He faces mostly older foes here but the only potential “killer” is (3) COCCO PUFF POWER, who hasn’t raced since June. Speaking of Cocco, the qualifiers were ok and he did chase Open foe Voukelfalas last time. He probably doesn’t need his best to win tonight. (6) ALWAYS B GIBBY gets a key driver change to Zeron. Race 8: NJ Garden State Trot - Pick 6 (5) MY HONOR took a shot in the Kindergarten and things didn’t quite go her way. The road to the front should be much smoother here if Svanstedt chooses that path as the most likely winner is stuck on the outside of the gate. (7) R CHARM wasn’t going far from post nine last time versus a better overall field. Zeron should be able to fire to the top here and get a big piece. (10) MISS BELMAR may be winless but is the most talented filly in this field. The problem is she drew post 10 and I’m not sure the connections are going to go all out here with the much richer Goldsmith Maid elims and finals coming up in the next two weeks. Your best bet is to check the simulcast crawl and see if she is racing with shoes. No shoes likely means they are going hard for the win. Race 9: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2 $8,351) in last 4/TM 83.5 or less (6) SPORTY M THREE gets Gingras in the bike and seems likely to find some early speed. (7) NICHOLAS BEACH doesn’t go behind the gate that often but is more than capable of popping off a huge performance on this surface. (8) DANCE PARTNER scratched out of a spot where he probably didn’t belong last week and now lands in the same condition where he won his last start. Race 10: Preferred Handicap Trot - $50K GTD Pick 4 It is very difficult to predict what will happen in this prep race ahead of the Fanduel championships. I’ll roll the dice with (5) OH WELL, who showed early speed and won the Breeders Crown prep here in October. Hopefully the same tactics will be in play as others get an easier mile. (4) WINNER’S BET is the leader for Older Male Trotter of the Year and clearly the one to beat if raced aggressively. (6) HILLEXOTIC picks up Gingras here and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him take a shot for the front. He’s not the fastest horse in the field but he is capable of pulling off the upset with the right setup. Race 11: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L2 $5,525) in last 4 or $1,500 p.s. in 2024 Here is another race where I don’t feel strongly about any of the players. Let’s try (8) RAVEN BANNER N, who has been closing well at Pocono and might be well suited to the big track. At the very least he’s an unknown quantity on the mile oval and may step up. (10) MAMBA has speed and form, though I probably prefer him underneath, even if Miller chose here over my top pick. (3) TOTO HANOVER doesn’t jump off the page and probably won’t take a ton of pari-mutuel play but he’s capable of firing to the front here and getting lucky with the right trip. Race 12: Trackmaster 83.5 (NW L2/2L4 84.2/84.75) or less/NW $7,500 (NW L6 $8,661) in last 4 (4) MADRID A was used for the first three-eighths trying to get the lead and then wound up chasing a much-the-best foe home. It was a good effort and even a small step forward in her third start back from a break in action would be enough to win. (2) AVF CLAIRE tucked and came uncovered before tiring due to the tough trip last time. The trip should be much smoother tonight. (6) JM BETONSIX raced very well at big odds most recently. Maybe she’s simply good enough to race at this level and was overlooked. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L2 $3,300) in last 4 or $1,250 p.s. in 2024 (7) TWIN B SEAMONSTER is one of a few horses in the field dropping in class and you have to like that he has the early speed necessary to make the front; narrow call. (2) STRAIGHT TALK gets class and post relief; obvious player. (4) T’S RAIDER II rallied nicely at huge odds last time from post 10; moves inside. Race 14: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club Trot (8) MASSIVE MATTER is the sharpest and most consistent horse in the field. It’s hard to take any horse in the field at short odds but if you can get 5-2 or higher, I’d bite. (9) FEERIEDESBROUETSFR won at first asking coming in from Europe and seems at least worth consideration here in a field with no clear standout. Driver has won four of 20 career starts. (5) ALLINDOTIME got a golden trip on the pylons and picked up a win last time in this class.
