He has one of the top drivers in the race and enough early speed to work out a winning trip. (9) RED HOT SUN is an interesting newcomer to the series for a capable barn, but the driver has just a 5% career win rate in nearly 200 starts. (2) STRIKING TACTFUL picks up the aggressive Yogi Sheridan and merits at least some consideration. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Pace - Survivor 7 (6) RECKLESS ABANDON has no equal in this group and should win almost regardless of trip given the short field. (4) BEACH BABE raced well after the early miscue last time and her mile prior to that wasn’t bad. (3) WORKLIFEBALANCE took some air and was no match for the top pick last time; clear exotics possibility. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot (1) FLIGHTLINE dealt with adversity early in his career debut as both horses to his inside broke. He ended up third-over and was likely a length-plus further back then charted at three-quarters and finished up willingly. Expecting a big mile tonight. (5) MR WALNER FASHION finished strong in his lone start when second behind a potential good one in Maryland. Notice he beat Tactical Dynasty by multiple lengths that night, and that foe was just a neck behind #2 most recently. The time is softer than some of the others have shown but if they set a quicker pace I suspect his final time will improve. (2) DON’T ASK FOR MORE won his lone start and the aforementioned Tactical Dynasty was a next-out winner in 1:53 2/5. Race 4: Trackmaster 68.5 (NW L2/2L4/L20 69/69.25/70.20) or less - Pick 6 (1) HUNT YOU DOWN was simply second best last week and here he catches a slightly softer bunch. Five-year-old should flash early speed and be in winning position. (10) HARRY HANOVER remains sharp as can be and he’s certain to be firing hard off the gate. (6) BRUTUS ships in from Hoosier and often those types show a bit more here. Still, this is a 3-year-old versus older and he’s been off for a month. (7) BOOMERANG COWBOY is winless in 29 career starts but you have to think Tetrick could get a bit more out of him. Race 5: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Trot (3) MY HONOR raced very well in her debut and finished up very willingly when shown daylight. New driver adds to the allure but certainly hurts on the price end. (1) CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS was raced more conservatively last time and that sealed her fate to some extent. I imagine she’ll be closer to the front here. (7) LADY LANDIA and (8) WALSPEA both scored at first asking and either could get the job done given the right journey. Race 6: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Pace - $50K GTD Pick 4 (4) CATTLESHARK gets another shot in the top spot for me. Last week he was used a bit to the front, got bottled up a bit and came up completely flat when finally clear. That mile may’ve been a learning experience. (7) TWIN FURY showed a new dimension to his game last week by gunning out from post 10 and paced home steadily with the talented Power Code; contender. (6) MANOLETE got away soft and sprinted home to win easily last time. He can certainly score again. (9) TOM HORN floated away last time, settled for a tuck, gapped cover and continued home willingly in his third start. There was some progress made but the post is an issue. Race 7: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 2 Pace (6) GAZOO had to work a little for the front and while the fractions don’t look fast it wasn’t an easy mile. The path to the top should be easier here. (4) WHAMMER JAMMER was huge in victory besting the top pick despite being first-over. He may be looking at another difficult journey here and that’s asking a lot. (5) ROCK ON LINE was perhaps a bit flat last week despite finishing in 27 3/5. If a bunch of the outside horses decide to play early it could set up nicely for him. Race 8: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot - Pick 5 (6) PRECISE LANDING was able to force the longshots to take a seat behind him but yielded to and chased the favorite last time in a good mile. He should have the opportunity to control it the entire way this week. (2) YANNICK G KEMP improved as expect but not quite enough to win last time; threat with another step forward. (4) NORDIC CATCHER S rated and powered away in his debut. He’s unlikely to get as perfect of a setup here but maybe it won’t matter. Race 9: Trackmaster 71.5 (NW L2/2L4 72/72.5) or less (4) KISSINBYTHEBEACHES has been in decent form and here he gets a monster driver change. You have to think he’ll be sent to the top and prove hard to beat. (7) NEVER EASY Z TAM and (9) DANDY IDEA are two sharp horses moving up slightly in class. Each has drawn outside but they have the early speed needed to overcome. Race 10: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Trot - $50K GTD Pick 4 Gingras was listed on the two best horses and while I’m technically making this decision before he chooses, he indeed agreed with me and went with (3) KENDRA over (4) TORRISI. The former seems to have a bit more tactical speed and perhaps ability in her game. (1) CONVERSANO was a huge disappointment to anyone that played her last time as she lost a race that should’ve been an easy win. Maybe she learns from that mile but not with my money. Race 11: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L2 $3,441) in last 4/TM 77 or less (1) SHELTER IN PACE went up to Woodbine and laid an egg for a different trainer. Now she’s back in the Cullipher barn and at a reduced level. This is clearly her race to lose. (5) CORSINI A and (9) POWERED BY MACH finished a nose apart in this class last time to a better horse. Both should be competitive and could win if the top one falters. Note that Corsini A adds Dunn to the team so that could also move this guy up a notch. Race 12: Non-winners $5,000 in last 4/TM 80.5 (NW L2 81.30) or less (7) MY AUGUST MOON A was certainly better last time in her second start back from a short vacation. Now Lasix is added and she gets another class drop. I’ll bite. (8) PATTYCAKE MOOSS is coming out of the same race as the top pick and finished just a half-lengths behind; obvious contender. (2) SEVEN IT IS, (1) P L PORTIA and (3) SANTAFE’S APPETITE are all accomplished one class down but it wouldn’t be a shock if any of them stepped up. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Non-winners $3,000 in last 4/TM 77 (NW L2/2L4 77.5/78.45) or less It is difficult to get excited about any of these horses. (6) ENZO DK really hasn’t been bad since joining this barn and I’m curious how he’ll race on the big track. A move forward isn’t out of the question and neither is early speed. I’ll reluctantly also use the always erratic and only sometimes behaving (7) GOTWUTEVERITTAKES in my Pick 4. Cross your fingers and hope he trots because if he does the result seems likely to be a win. (3) CONGRESS HILL EVA is in the right condition if the trip works out. Race 14: Trackmaster 68.5 (NW L2/L4 69/69.25) or less (4) EA MUSHU went wire to wire the last time she raced in this class (also in the last race) with Gingras in the bike. Miller takes over tonight since Gingras is leaving early, but this is another blank field and Miller is typically like GOLD in the nightcap. (7) LADY ZAR comes off a third last time and seems likely to leave the gate again while hanging on for a big piece. (1) AMERICAN SILKS adds Dunn.
