WINTER MEET STATS: 321-93-51-43 / $533.80 (-$108.20) BEST BETS: 20-9-6-0 / $42.00 (+$2.00) SPOT PLAYS: 23-5-3-3 / $19.20 (-$26.80) BEST BET: CHAPERCRAZ (10th) SPOT PLAY: SPINDOCTOR HANOVER (4th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (8) FRAZIER HANOVER may only be coming off a fifth-place finish but the final time of his mile is quite noteworthy. He dropped more than six seconds from his previous mile and three seconds from his fastest time of the year. He may’ve “sucked along” but still deserves credit for a major turnaround that could mean he’s ready to fire a big shot. (10) SEIZE CONTROL is one of many dropping out of a somewhat better spot. The post hurts but the driver change is interesting. (2) ROCKABILLY CHARM moves to the inside of the gate and should get a piece of the exotics. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $5,000 (NW 2L8 $6,100) in last 4/Opt. $17,500 Clm. (1) INTERVIEW FRA A comes with the uncertainty of missing almost a full year of action and with only one qualifier to evaluate for fitness. That said, if he drops the typical two seconds off that mile he’ll fit nicely with these. When last racing in this class a year ago he won by seven lengths and handled a class jump the next start as well. (4) TOCCOA FALLS was hopelessly trapped in traffic and that might’ve cost him the win last time. He will likely be overbet off that line but still has a big win chance. (3) LABYAD BROS S drops back down; threat with trip. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/2L4 68.5/69) or less - Survivor 7 (10) UNCLE COZ put in his best mile in some time last weekend and now he sheds the amateur pilots for Ahle, who hopefully will work out a winning trip. (2) SERGEANT SONNY has the speed to get position and I’m certainly he’ll get a piece of this, but he’s not exactly known for winning. (5) MOONWARDS HANOVER is a bit of a sneaky play in here. He finally lands a decent post this week and hopefully can stay within striking range. Race 4: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2/L4/L6 71.5/72/72.35) or less (6) SPINDOCTOR HANOVER saved ground along the pylons in his first start for this barn, on Lasix and after missing three weeks. Beckwith tried to squeeze up the pylons and the room just disappeared, causing him to take hold and this guy to ultimately make what look like a speed break when he got clear. I expect a less eventful journey here and somewhat more aggressive handling. (8) ROCKINWITHTHEBEST gets trainer Ginsburg back in the bike and I expect we’ll see more early speed here like he showed two starts back in a very good second behind a runaway winner. (2) PAPRIKE BLUE CHIP faces tougher going for his fourth straight win. Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (10) QUEEN SUN RYSER comes into the amateur ranks off consecutive wins and lands Yogi in the bike. Mare has enough early speed to leave for position and the form to seal the deal versus a good field. (9) DUCK INTO THE NITE swooped them from last in an amateur race last weekend. Driver has been on a tear in these races and he is also sporting a 28% win rate as a trainer since March 1. (8) DUNSAN HARRY has charged home to be second in three straight amateur races. I’d need at least 4-1 to take a shot that the trip will work out right for this confirmed closer. (1) HASHTAG MONEY comes off a nice win and certainly has a shot with a decent trip. Race 6: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races or $20,000 (NW L2 $30,000) life/Maidens draw inside - $50K GTD Pick 4 It was a great learning experience for Vinnie Ginsburg behind (7) CRAIGIEBURN last Friday as he certainly figured out that this guy doesn’t much like the turns. If that results in an equipment change, run to the windows. Even if it doesn’t, Ginsburg will know to use different tactics tonight. (5) SHOW ME will be heading to the front and is clearly the one to beat at short odds. (6) STRIKING TACTFUL has put forth plenty of good efforts in this class at more than fair odds. Race 7: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2/L4/L9 71.5/72.05/73.01) or less (3) MONEYMAKESHERHAPPY got a nice tightener last weekend in her first start since October. Three-year-old remains at the same lower level and should have every opportunity to shine. (1) LADYZAR went a big mile on the engine in defeat most recently on a night when speed wasn’t exactly winning much. (7) POWERED BY MACH drops and has big early speed; dangerous. (6) SMOOTH DEBATE N hasn’t done much of late but does add Lasix and switch to the big track. Race 8: Non-winners $3,000 in last 4/TM 77.5 (NW L2/2L4/2L6 78/78.5/78.75) or less - Pick 6 (3) NO TURNING BACK went a gigantic mile last time parked every step in defeat to a 1-5 chalk who sat a pocket trip and came up the cones. Anything close to that effort here should make her tough to beat. (7) FULL STRENGTH was too far back in the same mile as the top pick and even a 27 2/5 final quarter couldn’t get him there; moves inside two spots on gate. (6) HOOFBEATS DE VIE made the front but was shuffled back to the four hole in his last start. He finished strong for second but note that he hasn’t won a race in years. (8) HELPHASARRIVED lands a new driver that likes to be aggressive. Race 9: Trackmaster Series 77.5 (NW L2/2L4/L8 78/78.91/78.75) or less (2) BOLD SPIRIT is new to the Cullipher barn and he wasted no time shipping east to go in this mini-series. Notice the 1:51 1/5 win at Mohawk last year showing he can go on the big tracks. I expect him to be plenty live. (7) BLOODHOUND wasn’t going far from post 10 last time. He moves in a couple of spots on the gate here and should be showing more, potentially at a decent price. (3) DUDDIE’S LOR drops to the level of his last win but at the same time tackles a good field for the class. Race 10: Non-winners $12,500 (NW 2L4 $13,750) in last 4 or 8 (NW L2 9) races life - $50K GTD Pick 4 (5) CHAPERCRAZ made over $500k last year with just three wins by picking up checks in all the big races. He’s 5 years old now and has every opportunity to step up his game. Return qualifier was sharp, Burke usually has them ready to roll, and Bongiorno is sticking around for this drive. (2) AETOS KRONOS S made his last pari-mutuel start in France last February, so it has been a long time since champagne toasts in the winner’s circle for this guy. Both qualifiers were good and this is the only horse on the card Dunn is driving, but I wouldn’t be expecting him to charge out of there. If the trips works out, it does. (7) YANKS DUGOUT is capable of winning on his best but a minor award seems more likely here. Race 11: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2/2L4 75/75.5) or less/Starters $7,500 claiming or less last start (3) ROMA AMOR got caught in a 1:49 3/5 mile last time and really she hasn’t seen a field this soft in quite some time. Hopefully Borjas will put the pedal to the metal and look to take this field a long way. (4) LYONS MIKI has a win and a second in her last two starts in this class. (1) DREAM PILLAR is a trip threat that could sit and pounce if things go her way. Notice the driver change to Beckwith this week as Ryder chose #4. Race 12: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2/L4 71.5/72.15) or less I can’t say any of these get be excited and I’ll definitely be spreading in this leg of the Pick 4. (8) ALL RISE has big gate speed and can make the front. Beckwith was listed on five horses in the field and landed here. (9) LIONHEAD is without a doubt the sharpest horse in the field. (7) MASSTER BLUE won his last start in this TM71 class. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Trackmaster Series 74.5 (NW L2/2L4 75/75.65) or less (5) IRRESISTIBLE faced some traffic and really wasn’t that bad upon arrival last weekend. I’ll give him a shot in this field at a price. (6) OUTCRY was super in victory last time and will be tough to beat if he can reproduce that mile. (2) GOTTA MINUTE N has been hung out in his last two starts. Certainly the trip has to be better tonight. Race 14: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4 68.5/69.15) or less (9) JUST MY MAMA raced well again to be second last time and that makes three straight nice performances. She would be the chalk from a better post and while I’m not crazy about her overcoming the outside, she should offer proper value. (3) THANEEYA will be heading to the front and might go off the favorite in here; still winless this year. (4) ALMOST KAREN dips to the Trackmaster basement; awakens? (5) BLUEBIRD CRUSH gets Siegelman to show up here for one drive. (2) EDEN PAIGE N lands Beckwith this week.
