MEET STATS: 112-30-18-11 / $181.80 (-$42.20) BEST BETS: 8-4-2-0 / $17.20 (+$1.20) SPOT PLAYS: 8-1-3-1 / $4.20 (-$11.80) BEST BET: SHAKE IT TWICE (12th) SPOT PLAY: HARDROCKCAFE (4th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (5) TAKEITTOTHEFACE never quite got involved last time versus a better group than he catches tonight. Good post and driver add to the allure. (6) VEL LARRY drops into the amateur ranks and lands in a much better post after two straight nine-holes. (2) ROCKABILLY CHARM seems better suited to wait patiently and try to pounce late. The inside post should help with those tactics. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races life/Maidens draw inside - Survivor 7 (7) KOVU AS wasn’t quite as good at Yonkers as he was here at The Big M. Unless one of these steps up in a big way, he still looks best in this class. (1) GUEST OF HONOR raced ok in his debut while not setting the world on fire. Any improvement would certainly make him a contender. (9) LOVELY HEART beat the top pick at Yonkers last time and deserves respect on that angle; bad post. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Trackmaster 74 or less (5) BADDITUDE has good early speed in a very soft field. Notice trainer Izzy Estrada has five more wins at the meet than every other trainer in the field combined. (8) WESTERN STEPP gets a driver change to Dunn and could certainly perk up a bit. (3) BETABCOOL N switches to the big track from Monticello while in good form and might try to head to the front to sit a close-up trip. Race 4: Trackmaster 74 (NW L2 74.5/2L4 75) or less/NW $1,000 in last 4 - $5,913 Pick 8 Carryover (7) HARDROCKCAFE has been competing in races that have been going much faster that most of these are used to and notice this guy made a nice middle move before flattening out last week. Four-year-old sneaks in under the AE condition and might be a surprise package. (3) I’LL OWE YOU ONE has the best form in the field by far and figures to take all the cash at the windows. (1) KEYSTONE BLADE moves to the inside of the gate and adds Dunn; improves? Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace Hard to get too excited about wagering on any of these, but (7) DYNOMITES PEAK raced very well last weekend when second behind a 1-2 favorite that was unlikely to lose. Five-year-old hasn’t won since 2022 but could get set up by a quick pace. Setting that tempo should be (6) ATTA BOY DAN and (5) KISSINBYTHEBEACHES. Either one is capable, though we lean towards the classy 15-year-old “Dan” who showed age is only a number with a strong seven wins in 2023. Race 6: Non-winners $5,000 in last 4/TM 80 (NW L2/2L4 80.5/81) or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 Difficult race to kick off the Pick 4 as almost any of these is capable of stepping up given the right setup. (4) P CHICO has a win and a second in this class in his last five starts and he simply lost to a horse that had a smoother trip last time. (2) HAVEHORSWILTRVEL N has made breaks in three straight starts yet hasn’t been asked to qualify; strange. That said, he’ll be good value and proved capable of winning in this condition just five starts back. (1) CHAKE was set up nicely last time when he jumped it off; another risky horse with a chance should he decide to behave. (6) SMART AS HILL has some class and at least he enjoys staying flat; Ahle drove him well at Freehold. Race 7: $7,500 Claiming (5) ROBBIE BURNS N dips a level on the claiming ladder for a barn that picked up its first two wins of the meet last weekend. I’d expect to see big early speed and an aggressive mile. (10) SOUTHWIND DREDGE sees his claiming price drop from 12500 to 7500 and is almost certain to fire out hard from the gate as well. Stable has been quiet in 2024 but is very capable. (6) CHESAPEAKE SUNRISE woke up on the trainer change to Estrada last time. I could see using him on your Pick 4 tickets but he will likely be racing from behind. Race 8: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L2 $3,301) in last 4 or in 2024/TM 77.5 (NW L2/2L4 78/78.75) or less - Pick 8 (2) SHEZAFREAKLIKEME was done in by post 10 last Friday and now draws much better. Sent off as the chalk in her last two starts, we’ll need at least 2-1 here to consider her but her best is better than these can muster. (7) LISA LANE was loaded late in the mile last weekend and she’s always shown some ability. Will Ryder keep her closer to the action here? If so, watch out. (1) ABSOLUTE POWER was on the rim behind slow fractions and didn’t gain in the stretch most recently; could improve. Race 9: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2 $8,250) in last 4/NW $10,000 in last 4 draw outside (3) MON AMOUR was in the NW10000 class last week but that race was very much a NW14000, so this is a HUGE class drop here. His last try at this level in July 2023 resulted in a win, as did his previous attempt in the class back in February. (5) OUTSIDE THE FIRE hasn’t enjoyed the tighter track at Yonkers where he has consecutive breaks on his lines. Prior to that he was fine on the five-eighths at Philly, so maybe the mile track will be right up his alley. (6) KING ALPHONSO was an easy winner in this class last time, but he loses the hottest driver at the track and faces better. (9) SOME CHAPTER is another who won the last time in this condition two starts back. The outside post hurts but doesn’t make the task impossible. Race 10: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - $50K GTD Pick 4 Here is another competitive event on a tough card to handicap. (7) MASK ON MASK OFF has the ability to race from on or off the pace and is certainly facing a softer overall group here. (6) ELM GROVE QWIGGLY was better last time with Lasix added. (3) AINTNOBETTOR A is off a monster mile where he was parked every step and kept chugging along. Still, this field is tougher. Race 11: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L2 $3,300) in last 4/TM 77 (NW L2/2L4 77.5/78) or less Let’s roll the dice here with (9) GOTWUTEVERITTAKES returning from a two month vacation. He couldn’t keep his act together when last seen in December but he did stay flat in the qualifier, though a bit rough on the turns. His best blows these away and if I can get anything close to a double-digit mutuel I’ll take it. (5) IMA DIAMOND BABE kept her act together with hobbles added and gets a class drop here. (3) BLUE BAYOU DEO returns here to face softer after a good mile at Freehold. Race 12: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L2 $3,301) in last 4 or in 2024/TM 77.5 (NW L2/2L4 78/78.75) or less (8) SHAKE IT TWICE was racing very well before the seemingly bad line last time. If you watch that replay, she was trapped behind a wall of horses in the stretch as a legitimate excuse and may’ve finished second. She can do in this somewhat weak field. (6) MONEYMAKEHERSMILE gets an interesting barn change and could certainly awaken. (9) CLEAR THE WAY made a move last time before flattening; adds a Hall of Fame driver. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2/2L4 71.5/72) or less This field lacks form and I’m hoping that (1) JERRYTONE can lay just off a quick pace potentially set by some outside speed types and pounce late. He doesn’t love to win but is capable of taking advantage in the right situations. (5) ITS ROCKIN RANDY gets post and class relief. (7) SKYWAY BILLY raced well the last time the “Buckeye” was in the bike. (4) YAYAS HOT SPOT N might need a start or two but is very capable of winning against this field if ready. Race 14: Non-winners $5,000 in last 4/TM 80 (NW L2/2L4 80.5/81) or less (3) WAY OFF BROADWAY raced well in her first start for this barn in December but has been empty in two starts since. Lasix is added now and perhaps that will be just what the doctor ordered to wake her up at a nice price. (8) THE AMERICAN EAGLE was an easy winner two starts back and then finished last versus better after a tough trip last time. He drops back down and is clearly the horse to beat. (5) MISSILE gets post relief and should turn in a decent effort to make the ticket somewhere.
