MEET STATS: 233-68-44-27 / $363.40 (-$102.60) BEST BETS: 16-5-4-0 / $25.80 (-$6.20) SPOT PLAYS: 17-2-5-2 / $7.20 (-$18.80) BEST BET: WHITECOOKIE (9th) SPOT PLAY: FRANCO TOTEM N (11th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (4) PHELGON does his best work on the lead or from the pocket and that was quickly impossible last time when a couple of others left to his outside. This is a weaker overall group and hopefully he can work out the right trip at what should be a decent price. (2) BLOODHOUND went a long mile and just missed last week; clear player and possible favorite this time. (8) LOVETHEWAYYOULIE rallied well from the back on a night when this barn was very live. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2/2L4 75/75.5) or less (4) KOBE B comes back to The Meadowlands after an amateur win at Freehold last time. He should be forwardly placed with Beckwith jumping in the bike against a mostly formless group. (3) LANDIA has closed well from bad posts in two straight; moves inside. (7) STORM BRINGER returns to a catch driver after a dull effort with an amateur in the bike. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2/2L4/L8 75/75.5/76.3) or less/NW2 races in 2024 - Survivor 7 (6) FIRSTUP is clearly in the best form of this field and she owns a win in the class two starts back. Last time she just missed versus slightly better. I’m not thrilled to take 4-5 on a horse that is 1 for 16 this year, but it is hard to love anyone else. (1) ROMA AMOR is far from sharp but certainly lands in a great spot this week. (4) BETTE TINA gets post relief but rarely wins races; using underneath. Race 4: Non-winners 2 races life/3YO NW $1,700 in last 4 or TM 73 or less (4) BO SILAS raced very well at Pocono but couldn’t produce the same results on the smaller track at Yonkers. He could be an interesting player stretching out on the mile track. (1) ROCK MY UNIVERSE is another horse switching to The Meadowlands. He took off the hobbles in his qualifier and raced very well and you’ll want to note that many of his prior races at The Red Mile were good. (6) NICCOLO gunned to the front and was a good second last time; hard to toss. Race 5: $12,500 Claiming (10) GREYSTONE TREASURE is riding a three race winning streak at Saratoga and does have a win over this track as well. Six-year-old loves to win with 24 victories over the last two years. (3) ILLUSTRIOUSARDEN N didn’t fire last time but really wasn’t awful either. I can see her waking up. (4) LYONS MIKI takes a nice dip in claiming price and an improved effort certainly seems possible. Race 6: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L2 $5,641) in last 4 or $1,500 p.s. in 2024/TM 80.5 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (4) CELIA B MONEY makes her debut for the Cullipher barn after paying $45,500 via ongait.com. Notice she takes a substantial drop in class here and was stuck with outside posts at Yonkers in her recent starts. I’d expect to see at least some early speed here to discourage other speed directly to her outside. (2) RACY ROXY A was even last time and she also dips down in company tonight; using in Pick 4. (6) MY AUGUST MOON A was in way over her head in her last start. Her prior two tries resulted in second-place finishes at this level. (1) WOODMERE HARRIET was a winner when last seen in this condition. Race 7: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L2 $3,471) in last 4 or $1,250 p.s. in 2024/TM 77.5 or less Tricky race here with a number of potential contenders and plenty of horses who could elect to show early speed. (9) HELPHASARRIVED really wasn’t bad in his debut for this barn as he trotted home steadily off cover while the top two were well clear. He’s certainly fast enough to win and the price should be sweet despite the class drop. (2) HUNTING AS raced well last time and now drops to the level of his last win. (4) ARCHERY SEELSTER qualified nicely for a barn that has won with horses off a break in action recently. (1) CONGRESS HILL EVA hasn’t been worse than second in her last three starts in this condition and if they mix it up on the front she’ll be coming hard late. Race 8: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 2 Pace - $15,667 Pick 6 Carryover Big Pick 6 carryover here! (8) HURRIKANEKINGJAMES rolls into town on a three race winning streak for a driver/trainer that has done very well in the amateur ranks. You have to like the fact that this horse has been versatile, just in case too many horse leave to his inside. (4) RAU RU is racing a bit better than perhaps it seems on paper. I can see him being put in play early this week on the big track. (7) JUST PLAIN LOCO comes off a win for a barn that was perfect in three starts last weekend. I’m leaning against him here from the outside post at a shorter price, but I would change my mind if his stablemate races well in the fifth race. Race 9: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2/2L4/2L6 75/75.5/76.05) or less (2) WHITECOOKIE came up short in the stretch last time after missing two months of action. He is without a doubt the best horse in this race and I expect we’ll see him on the engine or in the pocket over a track where he has won many times in the past. (3) LOUIS LITT N drops to the level of his last win after a number of solid efforts up in class. The only issue here is that the trainer drives and this guy is a one-dimensional closer, as is (6) WHAMMER JAMMER. If the pace is somehow hot (and I don’t expect that to happen) you’ll want this guy on your ticket. (1) GALLIE GETAWAY has speed and form from the pylons but I like him more on the bottom of the exotic tickets. Race 10: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L2 $5,501) in last 4 or $1,500 p.s. in 2024 - $50K GTD Pick 4 Very competitive race here. (2) RICH AND MISERABLE was awful in his return from a four month layoff but did a 180 in his follow-up qualifier, finishing in 28 seconds with something left in the tank. He’s far and away the class of this field and will win if that qualifier means he’s righted the ship. (4) YOU GOT IT gets class and post relief this week; very playable. (7) KEYSTONE APACHE is another moving down the condition ladder. Note that his last try at this level resulted in a gate to wire win. (1) THE PRINCE and (3) RECKLESS REVIVER are both taking on better after blowout victories. They are two more contenders in a wide-open race unless the top pick brings his “A” game. Race 11: $10,000-$12,500 Claiming Handicap (6) FRANCO TOTEM N displayed speed at both ends of the mile but got unlucky when he found himself in ninth at the head of the stretch last week. Veteran campaigner paced home faster than anyone and seems poised for a big mile. (4) ADVANCE MAN comes to town sharp for a new trainer that has done well at the meet. Six-year-old also drops in for a tag and figures to get an aggressive steer. (5) PICKSIXKING never saw the pylons while challenging the leader hard and still finishing fourth last time; clearly sharp. (2) QUICK SNAP had a great trip and hung last Friday. He won’t get a better trip and he isn’t known for winning; using underneath only. Race 12: $15,000-$20,000 Claiming Handicap (7) HAVEHORSEWILTRVEL N had a horrendous trip last week, getting parked the mile and having to move wide around another parked foe. Despite the journey he lost by less than three lengths and this week he draws inside all of the other leavers. (8) ALTUS HANOVER is the one who wired the field versus the top pick and he’s certainly a threat again. (9) LOUIS sat a perfect pocket trip and couldn’t get by last time. Getting near the front could be tricky unless the new connections get more out of him. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Non-winners $3,000 in last 4 or $1,250 p.s. in 2024/TM 77.5 or less (3) COZ IM SPECIAL showed better life at the end of the mile with Lasix added last time. Another step forward would make her very tough against this somewhat shaky group. (1) NITE TIME DEAL tracked the winner from fourth over and raced well while unable to pass the top pick late; another contender. (7) OAKWOOD DYNASTY IR looks awful on paper but I wouldn’t be shocked if she improved in her first try on the big track. Race 14: Trackmaster 71.5 (NW L2/2L4 72/72.75) or less/NW 1 race in 2024 (5) BETTER THAN SOME really hasn’t been that bad starting from outside posts in his last two starts. He moves to the middle of the gate here and I wonder if we see a hint of early speed. (3) MY WISH CAME TRUE picks up a catch driver after a number of starts in the amateur ranks; aggressive tactics tonight? (1) STONE COLD SAVAGE drops back down to a TM condition where he has been successful. (8) BIG BAD BILL is another leaving the amateur races. This is the lowest TM condition he’s been in for some time.
