Race 1: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L2 $5,500) in last 4/TM 80.5 (NW L2/2L4 81/81.95) or less - Pick 5 (1) DIXIE DREAM has done much better on big tracks than on the half-miler at Yonkers. Check out the Sept. 7 line and notice the 1:49 4/5 mile for second; great spot here. (5) AVF CLAIRE has proven capable of going some good miles and the rest likely did this gal some good. (7) MACHS LEGACY A gets her first chance on a mile oval since arriving in the U.S. She’s certainly worth some consideration, especially picking up Gingras. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races or $23,000 life (6) GRACEFUL DESIGN rolled to a nice score on the engine in that recent qualifier. In a field without a standout, perhaps that was a sign of good things to come. (9) THE THING IS seems to have the breaking problem behind him now and hopefully the big track will work better for his closing style. (8) DUPLANTISPELLINI S has early speed. He could be a major player if he clears easily. [DRF BETS: Wager on today's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Breeders Crown 2YO Filly Pace Elim - Survivor 7 (8) MIKI AND MINNIE is a very talented filly that has never finished worse than second in her eight-race career. We should get good value here and I expect she’ll show at least some early speed. Whether she is good enough to beat (1) LOOKSGOODINLOULOU is debatable and that foe is clearly the one to defeat coming off a monster performance. (2) COWGIRL HANOVER has some ability but still has to prove that she is this good. She really didn’t have that opportunity from post 10 in her last start. Race 4: Breeders Crown 2YO Filly Trot Elim (5) MISS BELMAR woke up last time at Red Mile. Was it the surface change, something else or an anomaly? I’ll take a shot with her in a wide-open event on paper. (7) SANTA CATERINA certainly picked up her game in her last start. She’s another horse that comes in with questions but can win. (3) DELANEY HANOVER is a filly I really respect but one that has let me down a few times; mixed feelings now. Race 5: Breeders Crown 2YO C&G Trot Elim (2) TACTICAL DYNASTY got right at The Red Mile and will try to bring that new-found maturity back to The Big M. That he has a good post and some early speed is a big advantage in an elimination race. (8) MESHUGGAH has to be firing to the front here and while he has settled for second and third way too often, he’s a major player today. (4) MEMENTO MORI comes off a very nice win but loses his main driver to #8. Race 6: Breeders Crown 2YO Filly Trot Elim - Pick 4 (4) DEJA BLU did plenty of work and came up just a head shy in her last start. Daughter of the great Atlanta hasn’t really “broken out” yet but it could be coming soon. (1) APERFECT ANNIE rides a two race winning streak into this elimination and certainly will be tough. (3) TORRISI qualified back evenly. She tends to bring an honest effort in most starts. Race 7: Breeders Crown 2YO Filly Pace Elim (2) ROSE has been ultra-impressive in just about every start and she seems to have a tactical edge here from the inside post as she’ll likely brush early and get her own way on the front. (6) THE LAST MARTINI is seven for eight in the money this year and she has early speed in her arsenal to gain valuable early position. (8) UNREASONABLE is a filly I might’ve taken a shot with on top from an inside post. I see her rallying late for a board spot. Race 8: Breeders Crown 2YO C&G Pace Elim - Pick 6 *$2,919 C/O* (2) LOUPRINT is just an eighth of a nose from riding a long winning streak into the Crown elims. Sweet Lou colt has posted back to back miles under 1:49! (3) SIPPINONSEAROC is the fastest 2-year-old in history and certainly deserves plenty of respect. (9) CAPTAIN OPTIMISTIC has plenty of talent and was finished up his qualifier much better than it looks on paper. (4) RAILROAD STATION brings an honest effort each week. If he lined up with the right trip I wouldn’t be shocked with a win. Race 9: Breeders Crown 2YO Filly Trot Elim (7) LASTING DREAM lacks a big win but has finished second in the two biggest races she has competed in. With only the top three making the final I have to think Roy will push away from the gate and give this gal every chance to succeed. (3) SPICY NICE has been a new horse with hobbles added. I wouldn’t toss her off my tickets. (5) LUNA LOVEGOOD has failed as the chalk in consecutive starts but certainly merits consideration. Race 10: Breeders Crown 2YO C&G Pace Elim - Pick 4 (8) MANOLETE was a three-move winner in his last qualifier, so clearly he is tight and ready for this race. The big question is whether he has the pure speed to pace with (6) FALLOUT, who is coming into this race having won three straight, all under 1:50. I’ll use both on my Pick 4 tickets. (4) SWINGTOWN looked like he could be anything in Ohio but has been just ok since. Perhaps Dexter Dunn will work some magic with him. Race 11: Breeders Crown 2YO C&G Trot Elim (5) GO DOG GO was on his way to a monster mile in the 1:51 range last time when he jumped it off in deep stretch for the second straight start. Trotting hobbles go on now and if they cure his issues, watch out for him here at good odds. (1) SUPER CHAPTER couldn’t have looked any better winning his last two starts. He is the clear one to beat. (4) MAXIMUS MEARAS S looked like a good one before running into #1 last time. Can he move forward off that loss? [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 12: Trackmaster 77 (NW L2/2L4 77.5/78.05) or less (9) ITS SHOWTIME exits the amateur races and picks up Gingras, who tends to drive this guy very aggressively. (1) GEMINI EXPRESS also adds a top catch-driver in Dunn. The inside post should allow him to stick close and perhaps shake free late. (10) WARRAWEE YANKEE won his last start at this level but that came with Callahan in the bike; trainer drives today from the worst post. Race 13: Non-winners $2,000 (NW L2 $2,200) in last 4 (8) T H MCMURRY didn’t fire in his first start for new trainer Ron Burke but that can be explained away by the fact that he was stuck in post eight at Pocono. Let’s give him a second chance. (2) ALTA BLUES A comes off a shaky-looking qualifier until you see he faced the speedy Ruthless Hanover. Chasing that one should have him tight for his return from summer break. (3) HUNT FOR CASH is down in class and back at the track where he recorded his lifetime mark earlier this year. (6) HYPEBEAST qualified well for new connections and they elect to put up Dunn; playable.
