ARCADIA, Calif. – Success on the Santa Anita turf course defined Lord Bullingdon’s 2-year-old season in the final months of 2023. After winning the Qatar Golden Mile on Nov. 3 at Santa Anita, Lord Bullingdon won his second stakes in Friday’s $100,500 Eddie Logan Stakes. Both races were run at a mile on turf. In between, Lord Bullingdon finished a troubled fourth in the Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes at a mile on turf on Dec. 3 at Del Mar. Sent off as a slight favorite, Lord Bullingdon ($6.80) was timed in 1:36.15 and earned a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 75. “Del Mar was a little disappointing,” trainer Michael McCarthy said in the winner’s circle Friday. “He had a messy trip and didn’t have a chance to run.” Lord Bullingdon had an easier trip in the Logan Stakes. Ridden by Umberto Rispoli for the third consecutive race, Lord Bullingdon closed from fourth with an inside move through the stretch to win by two lengths over 18-1 Charge for Gold. Charge for Gold set a slow half-mile time of 49.37 seconds, leading by a length. Charge for Gold had a half-length advantage over Lord Bullingdon with a furlong remaining in the Logan. :: Bet with the Best!
