Lone Star Park near Dallas will open its facility to spectators starting with the live program on Sunday, the track announced Wednesday night. Lone Star also intends to extend its current meet to Aug. 11, pending approval of the Texas Racing Commission. The season, which started late due to the coronavirus pandemic, began May 22. Lone Star had been scheduled to close Aug. 2.  Admission and parking to Lone Star will be free, and patrons are to enter through the east gate area near valet parking, according to a press release. Those attending the races will have their temperatures taken as they make their way to the entrance and must answer brief questions put out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. :: Click to learn about our DRF's Free Past Performance program. Lone Star will make face masks available, but they are not required. There will be social-distancing protocols inside the facility. Lone Star is limiting seating to the areas of the second floor, and the east side of the first floor, apron, and paddock area. The occupancy in those areas will be limited to 50 percent, and if there is overflow, the track may open other sections of the grandstand, according to the press release. There will be no valet parking at this time. The card Sunday features seven stakes that make up Texas Champions Day. Starting on June 14, Lone Star will race mostly on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday through the end of the meet. Lone Star will be dark on Sunday, June 21, and the Wednesdays of July 1 and Aug. 5. Lone Star will race on one Saturday during the meet, June 27.   The weekday post time will be 1:35 p.m. Central, and the weekend post times will be 3:05 p.m.
