ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Canada’s leading sire, Souper Speedy, has reportedly died in a paddock accident at T.C. Westmeath Stud Farm northwest of Toronto, where he stood at stud since retiring from racing.  A 15-year-old son of Indian Charlie, Souper Speedy has sired 15 stakes winners, including Grade 3 winner Il Malocchio. He sired three black-type winners this year, including Souper Supreme and Junior Hot Shot.  Souper Speedy currently ranks as Canada’s leading sire in both progeny earnings ($2,673,363) and number of winners (54). Souper Speedy won the Jaipur Stakes and finished second in the Grade 2 Remsen.
