The 3-year-old filly La Crete underwent successful surgery Sunday to repair a condylar fracture in her right-front leg.  The stabilizing surgery was performed at the Equine Surgery Center at Louisiana State University but Stonestreet Farm, which bred and owns La Crete, flew in Dr. John Madison of Ocala Equine in Florida to undertake the procedure, according to Ian Brennan, Stonestreet’s trainer at their Florida farm and training center.  La Crete suffered the injury on Saturday at Fair Grounds during the Rachel Alexandra Stakes, which she was leading approaching the half-mile pole when the injury occurred. Jockey Joel Rosario did fantastic work steering the filly away from trailing horses and pulling her up as quickly as possible.   “She’s doing really well,” Brennan said Monday morning. “I just talked to the clinic this morning. The surgery went really good and she’s recovering really well. She’s in good form this morning. She’ll be out for 60 to 90 days and then we’ll make a decision.”   :: For the first time ever, our premium past performances are free! Get free Formulator now! Stonestreet will fly La Crete back to the Florida farm “as soon as she’s very comfortable,” Brennan said.  La Crete, entered and withdrawn from Keeneland’s 2020 September yearling auction, is by Medaglia d’Oro and is the second foal to race out of the Bernardini mare Cavorting. Cavorting was a three-time Grade 1 winner who earned more than $2 million, and her first foal to race, by Curlin, is the Grade 1-winning 4-year-old millionaire Clairiere.
