This will be the second year under Keeneland’s new format, with a super-select Book 1 selling Sunday and Monday nights, Sept. 11 and 12. In total, 211 hips are offered in the first 2 sessions, although there will undoubtedly be a few lots withdrawn before the sale. Of the 4,319 yearlings cataloged in the sale over 13 days, these are the crème de la crème, as determined by the Keeneland selection committee and the consignors.  Below are the 50 catalog pages that seemed most noteworthy. Since the sires represent the ultra elite, the emphasis here is on the dam’s side of the pedigree.  Some of these are out of fantastic racemares.  Some are siblings to current top runners or great runners of recent memory.  Some of these represent a family or cross that has particular appeal.  If the market stays as strong as the yearling sales in July and August, this could be a lot of fun.
