OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Kant Hurry Love, who came off a 5 1/2-month layoff to win the Garland of Roses Stakes on Dec. 8, will most likely make her next start in the $100,000 What a Summer Stakes on Jan. 18 at Laurel Park, trainer David Duggan said. Duggan said the lack of a six-furlong opportunity in New York for Kant Hurry Love is what made him look out of town. The next six-furlong stakes for females in New York is the $125,000 Correction on March 2. Duggan said the $150,000 Interborough going seven furlongs at Aqueduct on Jan. 25 “is a waste of a race for me. We’ve tried, it doesn’t work.” Kant Hurry Love, a New York-bred daughter of Kantharos, missed the summer and early fall races due to a bruised foot. Duggan said Kant Hurry Love’s recovery was aided by swimming in a pool. “Keeps the weight off their feet,” Duggan said. “We diagnosed a bad bruise, it kept on lingering, tried to bring her back, and just couldn’t get it right.” :: Get the Inside Track with the FREE DRF Morning Line Email Newsletter. She could be sold at auction in February, bred by her current connections, and/or possibly run in the Correction in March and then be bred. Kant Hurry Love has a record of 7-8-5 from 23 starts with earnings of $599,850. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
