The former California-based stallions Kafwain and Ministers Wild Cat were shipped last week to a retirement farm near Nashville, Tenn. Both previously stood at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in Santa Ynez, Calif., which is downsizing its California presence for a move to Kentucky. Ministers Wild Cat was pensioned from stallion duty in 2022. Kafwain stood earlier this year. Kafwain and Ministers Wild Cat will be residents at the 70-acre Premier Equine Rehab, which is operated by Jenny Earhart who has a lifelong involvement in racing and retirement farms for racehorses. “They’ll get adjusted to the lifestyle,” Earhart said in a recent interview. Earhart also operates a facility in California. Ministers Wild Cat ranked among the state’s top 10 stallions in progeny earnings frequently in the 2010s and as recently as 2021. Kafwain’s progeny included the millionaire Daisy Devine and the Grade 1 stakes winner Let Faith Arise.  In Tennessee, Kafwain and Minister Wild Cat will join a group of retired runners that includes former Californians Basmati, Chief Lion, Royal F J, and the eight-time stakes winner Stallwalkin’ Dude. The Tennessee facility recently accepted a group of local horses found on a nearby farm that were suffering from neglect, Earhart wrote in a Facebook post. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
