The trickle of horses leaving California continues. Graded stakes-placed Justique and Mc Vay have been transferred from California trainer John Shirreffs and are now trained in Kentucky by Cherie DeVaux. Justique and Mc Vay are owned by Lee and Susan Searing’s CRK Stable. Justique, a 4-year-old filly by Justify, won the 2022 Desi Arnaz Stakes at Del Mar and placed in four graded stakes. Justique has won two races and $246,540 from 15 starts. Mc Vay, a 3-year-old by Constitution, placed in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes early this year at Santa Anita. He has won one race and $107,900 from eight starts. The relocation of Justique and Mc Vay continues a trend by CRK Stable. They live in California, and prefer to race in California but higher purses in the Midwest and limited opportunities in California are reasons to diversify. Many runners that normally would campaign in California have transferred to Kentucky, including a handful trained by Peter Eurton. Eurton and Searing won a maiden race Nov. 4 at Horseshoe Indianapolis with Ashton, a 3-year-old by Into Mischief. Little Mo, a 2-year-old filly by Honor A. P., won a maiden race Aug. 25 at Ellis Park. Highly regarded 3-year-old filly Just for Fun, by Justify, was scheduled for a comeback Nov. 12 in race 5 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Passing Game, a 3-year-old colt by Medaglia d’Oro, makes his career debut Nov. 13 in race 11 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
