Jockey Ferrin Peterson, who is based on the Kentucky and Ohio circuits, was discharged from the hospital on Sunday after sustaining injuries in a paddock accident March 11 at Mahoning Valley. Peterson was thrown while mounting and was trampled. She sustained multiple fractures and a ruptured spleen, for which she underwent surgery. She is expected to be sidelined several months. Peterson has one win from 13 mounts this year at Mahoning Valley and Turfway Park. Last year, despite missing time for a broken collarbone, she won 27 races at Belterra, Mahoning Valley, Thistledown, and Turfway. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
