SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The stewards suspended jockey Dylan Davis seven racing days (nine calendar days) for his ride on Montatham in Wednesday's seventh race in which he came out and prompted On Our Way Boyz to clip heels and unseat Eric Cancel. Montatham, who crossed the wire first, was disqualified and placed last. State steward Braulio Baeza Jr. said the stewards felt the offense was more egregious than other careless riding offenses. For example, jockeys Javier Castellano and Trevor McCarthy were each handed three-day suspensions for incidents at this meet. Both of those riders have appealed. Davis didn’t want to comment on the severity of the penalty, but he did tell the stewards he thought he was clear of other horses when he made the move. :: DRF's Saratoga headquarters – Stakes schedule, previews, recaps, past performances, and more “I would have never made the move if I didn’t I think I was clear,” Davis said. “They know I’m a clean rider. I never dropped anybody. I’m just glad Eric’s okay.” Davis, who began action Friday with seven wins from 98 mounts at the meet, will serve the days Aug. 17-25.
