Jockey Devin Magnon, who sustained significant injuries when his mount fell on him during a Jan. 14 race at Delta Downs, is recuperating in Maurice, La., agent Wes Landry said Thursday. “He’s progressing very well,” Landry said. “I saw him today. Stopped and checked on him. He looked great, sounded great. He was in real good spirits and anxious to keep going forward.” Magnon sustained three fractures in his back, 10 fractured ribs, broke his collarbone, fractured his pelvis, and punctured a lung, according to Landry. He said the rider also has two rods in his back to stabilize his spine, as he has fractures from his neck to his tailbone. The rider was scheduled for a round of X-rays on Friday. Magnon’s top runners include High On Gin, with whom he won the Happy Ticket at Louisiana Downs and the My Trusty Cat at Delta. The wins came in 2019.
