DEL MAR, Calif. - Jockey Tyler Baze had to take off his mounts on Sunday at Del Mar after having traces of a prescribed medication in his system for the fourth straight day. The medication was taken once last Monday when his blood pressure spiked, and his physician told Baze and his agent, Jack Carava, that it should clear by Thursday. Instead, Baze ended up not riding the entire week at Del Mar after taking off the prior week to attend to what stewards described as "personal matters" with his family. As a result, Baze has now missed the last two weeks of racing here. "Very frustrating," Carava said Sunday. "Hopefully the racing gods will smile on us this week." Because of the test results, Baze - a workhorse most mornings - is not even cleared to get on horses in the morning. Carava said Baze may go to Los Alamitos on Tuesday to get tested in the hope of getting cleared to work horses at Del Mar on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The next racing day at Del Mar is Thursday. Baze is named on horses in five of the eight races that day. :: DRF Bets members get FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic. Join now!
