Jenkin remained unbeaten around two turns on Sunday when she closed for a three-quarter-length win over You’ll Be Back in the $175,000 Year’s End for 2-year-old fillies at Oaklawn Park. It was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third to Adeera. Glee, a two-time stakes winner who was favored, finished fourth in the Year's End.   The one-mile race, which ended at the sixteenth pole, anchored a 10-race card made up exclusively of races for 2-year-olds. The track was muddy and sealed for the card. Jenkin ($10.60) made her two-turn debut in her third career start Dec. 6, winning a maiden special weight at this distance at Oaklawn. In her first start against winners Sunday, she settled in fifth behind contested fractions of 23.16 for the opening quarter, 47.30 for the half-mile and 1:12.94 for six furlongs. Jenkin advanced three wide on the final turn, came into the stretch five wide, and rallied down the center of the track to cover the distance in 1:40.12. :: Bet with the Best! Arrieta was aboard for trainer Lindsay Schultz. Jenkin is a daughter of Mineshaft and the multiple stakes-winning mare Morning Coffee and races for her breeder, Shortleaf Stable. Jenkin began her career at the Belmont at Aqueduct meet in September and was third in a maiden special weight sprint won by Stunner, who went on to win the Tempted at Aqueduct. Jenkin on Sunday was flattered earlier on the card when Legal Empress, the runner-up to her Dec. 6, came back to win a maiden special weight. Jenkin is now 2 for 4 for earnings of $180,150. Double for Lukas Trainer D. Wayne Lukas had two notable winners on the card. In the third race, Innovator ($3.60) won a maiden special weight by a head over Dreaminblue, while covering six furlongs in brisk 1:09.81. The start came following Innovator’s runner-up finish in the Advent Stakes opening day at Oaklawn. In the 10th race, Lukas saddled American Promise ($4.60) to a wire-to-wire win in a maiden special weight over 1 1/16 miles. The winner is a half-brother to Hoosier Philly, a Grade 2 winner of more than $850,000. Apprentice Tyler Bacon was aboard both winners for Lukas. Field drawn for Smarty Jones  Kale’s Angel, who won the Advent, was among eight horses entered in the $250,000 Smarty Jones, a Kentucky Derby points race to be run Saturday at Oaklawn. The race also drew Coal Battle, winner of the Springboard Mile at Remington Park, and impressive debut winner Hot Property, who will be ridden by Flavien Prat. The complete Smarty Jones field from the rail is Kale’s Angel, Hot Gunner, Optical, Bon Temps, Hot Property, Curvino and Coal Battle.  The race was drawn Sunday.  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
