Immersive won the third Grade 1 stakes of her nascent career in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies and is virtually assured the 2-year-old filly Eclipse Award title. The filly became the second winner of this race for her sire, Nyquist, who is on an upward trajectory into the nation’s elite sires. Nyquist followed in the footsteps of his sire, Uncle Mo, by capping an unbeaten championship campaign with a win in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile; he then went on to take the 2016 Kentucky Derby. Nyquist retired to Darley in Kentucky for the 2017 breeding season, and continued to follow the pattern set by his sire by finishing as the nation’s leading freshman sire of 2020, with that first crop led by Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner and Eclipse champion Vequist. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! In addition to Immersive, Nyquist is the sire of Grade 1 winner Tenma and multiple stakes winner Studlydoright in this group. With 15 winners from 35 2-year-old starters this year, Nyquist has a bankroll of $2,827,159 in this category. He is second only to juggernaut Into Mischief, with $2,905,348 from 21 juvenile winners from 66 starters – including Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Citizen Bull. Big things are expected for the crop directly behind these 2-year-olds, as well. Nyquist sired three seven-figure yearlings at the Keeneland September yearling sale. Meanwhile, his older crops have continued to produce as he is the sire of Grade 1 winners Johannes – second in the Breeders’ Cup Mile – and Randomized this year. Darley announced after the Breeders’ Cup that Nyquist’s fee will jump to $175,000 for 2025, more than double his $85,000 fee in 2024. “When you speak of the best stallions right now in North America, Nyquist has to be in that conversation,” Darley sales manager Darren Fox said. “His progeny reflect amazing versatility – short, long, dirt, and turf. It really doesn’t matter the surface or distance. His best books are his most recent books, so all indicators point to continued success in the future.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
