Eight years ago, I’ll Have Another gave Paul and Zillah Reddam their first of two Kentucky Derby wins in 2010s. I’ll Have Another was later sold as a stallion and stood in Japan before being moved to Ballena Vista Farm in California prior to the 2019 breeding season. Earlier this summer, I’ll Have Another was on the move again. The Reddams reacquired the 11-year-old I’ll Have Another in a private purchase and will stand him at their Ocean Breeze Ranch in Bonsall, Calif., in 2021, Paul Reddam said on Thursday. Reddam said that Doug O’Neill, who trained I’ll Have Another, bought the stallion a few months ago and immediately turned the horse over to the Reddams. The purchase was expedited out of concern I’ll Have Another could be moved out of the country, Reddam said. “We couldn’t have the horse go overseas again,” Reddam said. “I always said if he was for sale, I’d buy him back. We didn’t find out he was coming to California until it was announced.” A stallion fee for I’ll Have Another in 2021 has not been announced. I’ll Have Another will stand along with Mrazek and Pavel at Ocean Breeze, which was formerly known as Vessels Stallion Farm. Ocean Breeze previously stood Square Eddie, who was pensioned earlier this year because of infertility. Square Eddie still resides at Ocean Breeze. I’ll Have Another won 5 of 7 starts and earned $2,693,600. After the Kentucky Derby, I’ll Have Another won the Preakness Stakes but was retired before the Belmont Stakes because of injury. In Japan, I’ll Have Another has sired 220 winners, including the graded stakes winner Another Truth. I’ll Have Another stood at stud in California for the past two breeding seasons. Reddam supported the stallion at Ballena Vista. “We are over-the-moon excited to have him back,” Reddam said. “He’s provided us some memories of a lifetime.”
