The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority has appointed three new members to its Anti-Doping and Medication Control Standing Committee to replace members whose terms are expiring, the authority announced Monday. The three new members are David Ingordo, a bloodstock agent; David Sykes, a veterinarian based in Australia who has held numerous positions dealing with doping on the racetrack; and Jonathan Coyles, vice president of Drug, Health, and Safety Programs for Major League Baseball. The ADMC Standing Committee advises HISA on the establishment of rules and protocols for the ADMC program, including banned substances, laboratory testing standards, and out-of-competition testing programs. The board is comprised of seven members, four of which must be “independent” of the racing industry. Sykes and Ingordo were appointed to replace Dr. Lynn Hovda, a veterinarian in Minnesota, and Barry Irwin, owner of a horse syndication group. Coyles, an independent, was appointed to replace Dr. Kathleen Stroia, a senior vice president at the Women’s Tennis Association. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
