What kind of car do you drive? Pick-up truck.  Favorite dinner meal? Snack? Pasta; Chocolate. What is your favorite track to race at? Why? I like the tracks where I can make the most money [laughing]. The Meadowlands is a beautiful track, but I make more money at Yonkers. To me it doesn't matter if the track is a half-mile, five-eighth or a mile, I like all tracks. What is your favorite big event in racing? Hambletonian Day, but I have never won the Hambo. I've won the North America Cup, Meadowlands Pace and a couple of Breeders Crowns.  How often is racing on your mind? As long as they keep writing my name on the sheet. When they stop, I'll stop.  What is your favorite thing to do outside of racing? I have three horses I play with. I grew up in the business, so I like to work with a few horses. Other than that, ride my bike.  What is your favorite sport to watch? Team? Hockey -- I always start with Montreal, but they have been so bad I always switch halfway through the season. I like Montreal, but I really just like the game.  What is one word that describes harness racing for you? Exciting -- especially when you get a good horse to drive in the big race. Otherwise we just do it for the money. The older we get, unlike when we were in our 20's, you don't count the wins as much as how much is in the paycheck. If it was just about winning races, I would go to Freehold and win a bunch.  How did you get started in the sport?  My dad was in the business. I started with him and he gave me a couple of horses.  Was there ever a chance that you wouldn't be involved in harness racing? That is the only thing I can do. I don't know what I would've done without it. In school I didn't pay attention because the horses were always in my head. When you get hooked on horses, all you think about is the track and racing. When did you come to the U.S. to drive?  1998. Did you expect to succeed quickly? To be honest, those days we didn't have smartphones or simulcast from everywhere. I just packed my bag and came down. I really don't even know why I left Montreal. I had a big barn there and I was doing really well, but I came down and it worked out good.  You have an amazing 28% win rate and 686 wins as a trainer, all before 2000. Would you ever considering doing that again? It was too much work. I used to like it when you could stable at the track and didn't have to ship all over the world. Right now I do it with a few horses because I like it, but if I could stable at a track I would have more horses. It costs too much money to ship and find help, so I just keep three horses with one groom and that is enough.  What was your favorite moment in harness racing? Winning the North America Cup with Gallo Blue Chip (2000). It was my first big win. It was unbelievable. Which is the best horse you've ever driven? Gallo Blue Chip and Rock N Roll Heaven were two good ones. I drove Emoticon Hanover for Luc Blais, Mystical Sunshine for Chris Ryder and Keystone Velocity for Rene Allard. We won the Levy four times in a row at Yonkers. Gallo Blue Chip was probably the best. He was my first one when I was starting here and was an amazing horse. What's the one race that you most want to win in your career? The Hambletonian is the only one. Do you think most people realize you have 9,365 wins? I guess people look at that. I don't pay attention to stuff like that. I could have more wins if I wanted to race at two tracks a day, but I don't want to.  Your number of starts has dropped in recent years. Was that on purpose? Yes. It is a lot of work to get up in the morning, go to multiple tracks and sit behind a horse all day long. I like to come to my barn, enjoy my horses, ride my bike and go to work at Yonkers at night.  With Yonkers closed on Saturday you've been racing at The Meadowlands. Are you enjoying the extra opportunity? I like it, but I used to like my Wednesday off in the middle of the week. Do you miss driving in as many stakes races as you used to? Of course it is more fun to drive in the big races. The thing is, if you stick in the same place, people will know where to find you. Sometimes you go out of town to drive in a stake and you don't get a check and miss out on 10 drives somewhere else. I like to drive in the stakes when I have a good one. Just to go around the track is no fun.  What do you think of your "Double-Digit" Dube nickname because you win with longshots? I guess I pick up some longshots and win with them. When you are driving longshots you are usually more relaxed and driving for a check. Sometimes things work out and you win a race.  If you could choose any horse in history to drive, which horse would it be and why? I wouldn't trade Gallo Blue Chip for any horse. I had so much fun driving him. He was strong and tough. He never got tired. Week after week he would come back and not get tired. Sometimes I would have a tough trip with him, he would get parked and keep going to make me look good. He was the type of horse that if you put in a bad drive he could still win the race. If you had the power to change one thing in the sport, what would it be? The drag is too long between races. There is too much time between races. If post-time went off on time, people would get used to it. If you came in the paddock and waited all night between races for your next drive, you'd see it is a long night.  How do you view the future of harness racing? Everything is so expensive right now. We used to stable at the track but now we have to pay for shipping and a farm. Vet bills are more expensive now. I don't know how people can keep going in the future with these costs. Even people with a ton of money don't like to throw it away for no reason. If you retired tomorrow, what would you do? I don't even know myself. I've done this my whole life. I like to go to the track to work at night and do my job. Have you been in many major accidents? Three times. I hurt my back, my ribs and my shoulder.  Do you think people realize how dangerous driving a horse can be? I don't think so. Most of the time we get lucky and we don't get hurt but sometimes things happen. Time for the stretch drive: Lasix -- Yes or No?: Yes, but it would be nice if you could give it at the farm, because otherwise you have to send someone with the horse four hours early and they end up sitting in three hours of traffic. Some horses need it, some they don't.  Favorite TV Show?: When I'm home I just watch hockey. Trotters or Pacers?: It is always nice to get a good trotter, but a pacer or a trotter, either one is fine with me.
