Gun Song, who came within a neck of upsetting Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna in the Grade 1 Cotillion last fall at Parx, is getting closer to her 2025 debut. On Wednesday, Gun Song breezed an easy half-mile in 48.28 seconds before galloping out five-eighths in 1:01.20. The work was the fifth for Gun Song, who trainer Mark Hennig did not nominate for this Saturday’s Grade 3 Royal Delta Stakes. “She had a good, long year last year, and hopefully she’ll have another good, long one this year, so I was in no rush to start her season in mid-February,” Hennig said. “She’s doing well and we’ll start nominating her up shortly, although I’m not crazy about the options, some of which include a race like the Beholder in California, bringing her back at seven-eighths either in New York or the Minaret at Tampa Bay Downs, or waiting until Keeeneland.” :: Get Gulfstream Park Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team.
