Horse of the Year Gun Runner will stand for an unchanged fee of $70,000 in his second season at stud to lead the Three Chimneys Farm roster, the farm has announced. Gun Runner, by Candy Ride, entered stud this year after winning the Pegasus World Cup, his sixth career Grade 1 tally, in late January, the day after being named Horse of the Year. Champion Will Take Charge, currently fifth on the freshman sire list, will stand for $30,000. Belmont Stakes and Metropolitan Handicap winner Palace Malice, whose first foals are yearlings, will stand for $15,000. The Three Chimneys roster is completed by Sky Mesa at $15,000, Strong Mandate at $10,000, and Fast Anna at $7,500. “We are very pleased at the performance of our stallions this past year, in the breeding shed, on the racetrack, and in the auction ring,” Three Chimneys chairman Goncalo Torrealba said in a release. “Gun Runner covered an exceptional book of quality mares which should lay the foundation for him as a successful sire. “Every stallion on our roster was represented by a high-dollar horse in the sales ring,” Torrealba added. “At Fasig-Tipton July, the top five-selling fillies were by three separate Three Chimneys stallions. Auction results were strong at Keeneland September as well, and both of our freshman sires are off to a great start with their progeny. We have set our fees to represent value to our customers in the marketplace."
