SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Leave No Trace, runner-up to Wonder Wheel in the 2022 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies but a major disappointment in her lone start at 3, has been entered main track only in Thursday’s second race by trainer Phil Serpe. She stands a good chance of launching her comeback as heavy rain is in the forecast for the local area Tuesday. Leave No Trace, who began her career at Saratoga with two impressive victories, including a 1 1/2-length decision over Wonder Wheel as a 14-1 outsider in the Grade 1 Spinaway, was eased to the wire in the Grade 2 Davona Dale in her 3-year-old debut on March 4 at Gulfstream Park. She came out of the race with a small chip in her ankle, underwent minor surgery, was given time off on a farm to recuperate, and has trained forwardly for her return since rejoining Serpe’s stable earlier this summer. “Things got a little off-kilter with her this winter, she had a stone bruise and an abscess in her foot, then came out of the race with what was a pretty insignificant chip in her ankle that we had removed,” Serpe said. “I think her works have been excellent and I’m anxious to get her back in action to see what’s going on. I really don’t want the races to come off the grass on Thursday because I have Itsallcomintogetha in the stakes, but if they do it’s a no-lose situation because at least then we’ll get to run her.” :: Get Saratoga Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team.
