Far Bridge, the three-time Grade 1 turf stakes winner and earner of more than $2.5 million, will be sidelined through the summer with an unspecified injury. His connections hope the 6-year-old can make it back to the races this fall with the Breeders’ Cup Turf on Oct. 31 as a goal. Far Bridge, trained by Miguel Clement, came off a lengthy layoff to win the Grade 3 Pan American at Gulfstream Park on March 28. That race was to be a stepping-stone to races like the Manhattan and Sword Dancer this summer at Saratoga, races he will undoubtedly miss. “He definitely got nicked up a little bit and needs a little rest,” said Randy Sarf of LSU Stables. “Hopefully, Miguel will be able to get him back for the Breeders’ Cup.” :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now. Far Bridge, a 6-year-old son of English Channel, has won seven graded stakes, including the Grade 1 Sword Dancer in 2024. That year, Far Bridge also won the Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic. This year, the Joe Hirsch will be run on Sept. 26 at Belmont Park, five weeks out from the BC Turf at Keeneland on Oct. 31. Last year, Far Bridge finished third in the Manhattan to Deterministic, a Clement-trained horse who is targeting a repeat effort in the race this year. The Manhattan is scheduled to be run at 1 3/16 miles. Last year, due to rain which forced the race to be delayed by one day and moved to the inner turf course, the Manhattan was run at 1 1/8 miles. This year’s Manhattan field is expected to include Battle of Normandy, Deterministic, Integration, Make Me King, Rhetorical, Test Score, and possibly Corruption and One Stripe. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
