Earlier this year at Del Mar, Good With People was second in the Graduation Stakes for statebreds at five furlongs on Aug. 2 and won the I’m Smokin Stakes for statebreds at six furlongs on Sept. 4. Good With People was a well-beaten fourth in the Indian Summer Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 4 as the 2-1 favorite, his only start on turf. In the Golden State Juvenile, Good With People was the 2-1 favorite in a field of nine. Ridden for the first time by Ricardo Gonzalez, Good With People fought for the lead through the opening quarter-mile and was clear of his rivals by the end of the backstretch, setting an early fraction of 22.56 seconds for the opening quarter-mile. After a half-mile in 46.24 seconds, Good With People led comfortably and maintained a three-length lead with a furlong remaining. Positivity (4-1) closed well in the final sixteenth to get within three-quarters of a length of Good With People. Ascot Storm finished third, but was 6 3/4 lengths behind Positivity. Good With People was timed in 1:26.10 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 67. The win gave Gonzalez and trainer Peter Miller a sweep of the two juvenile stakes for statebreds over the weekend at Del Mar. Friday, they teamed to win the Golden State Juvenile Fillies with September Secret. Good With People, by Curlin to Mischief, races for owners and breeders Kirk and Judy Robison. Good With People has won 3 of 5 starts and earned $199,000.
