Glengarry was back at his Oaklawn base by mid-afternoon Saturday following his close-up, second-place finish to Otto the Conqueror in the $300,000 Springboard Mile at Remington Park. It was the first career loss for Glengarry, who was making his two-turn debut after winning the first three starts of his career, including the Bowman Mill at Keeneland. “He came back out of the race great,” trainer Doug Anderson said. “He was tired. He put out 100 percent. He tried every step of the way.” Glengarry set a strong pace while prompted by Otto the Conqueror on a muddy track and fought on through the lane before being edged by three-quarters of a length. Otto the Conqueror earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 71, and Glengarry received a 70. The one-two finishers earned a respective 10 and five points for the 2024 Kentucky Derby. "We don’t know for sure what we’re going to to do,” Anderson said. “I think we’re going to give him just a little break and probably go back to sprinting. I’m not sure if he’s a true route horse or not. We just don’t know. We’ll let him grow up.” Anderson noted there were a number of sprint stakes opportunities for Glengarry, some of them next year at Oaklawn. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs!
