CINCINNATI - Gleam of Hope stayed in mid-pack early, then rallied on the far turn and took command to win the $25,000 Cradle Prep on Saturday at River Downs. Jockey Casey Chavez rode Gleam of Hope for trainer Anthony Reinstedler in the one-mile turf prep. The final margin of victory over his 11 2-year-old foes was a 1 3/4 lengths. Eddie Set Go was second, with William's Kitten 2 1/4 lengths back in third. It was the first turf attempt for Gleam of Hope, a son of City Zip, who returned $19.20 and ran the mile over a firm turf course in 1.35.60. The first three finishers in the Cradle Prep can supplement for $3,000 to the $200,000 Cradle, to be run Sept. 7, Labor Day, at a 1/16 miles on the turf course. The regular supplemental price is $12,000.
