Though its gates may be closing, the spirit of Freehold Raceway will forever pace and trot on in the memories of all who have passed through and the many people, who became its family. We will surely miss you!!! Race 1: F&M TrackMaster 68.5 (2) EA MUSHU has shown very little in her last five starts, mostly over at the Meadowlands, but she’s a different horse when on or near the lead and on a half mile oval. She finally finds draws inside against a field that should be to her liking where she can flaunt her early speed. She has won six times and has 14 exacta finishes in 2024 and she sports the highest TrackMaster rating in the field. (4) TWO MORE DREAMS went wire-to-wire at this level on 12/6 and 11/15 and she likely will be on or near the lead. Last week she sat a pocket in a fast mile finishing third. (6) JUST MY MAMA has hit the board in eight of 12 Freehold starts this year and has finished second back-to-back since returning to Freehold. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: TrackMaster 68.5/Optional Claiming $5,000 (Trot) (Pick 4) (4) KING CAST makes his last start of his career and a win today would be really special. He beat a weak field last week with a perfect pocket trip to get up by a nose in the final stride. This field really isn’t any better than last week’s field and he seems to be a different horse when on or near the lead. This field is a collective 13-221 this year and he has four of those wins. Good luck to trainer Michael Posner, truly a good guy and to King Cast on his upcoming retirement and fantastic career.  (7) JAYDENS PRIDE has had some rough trips of late when drawing outside but went wire-to-wire from the rail in the Amateurs here on 11/30 and tried it again on 12/14 but got beaten by a neck and finished third. He has hit the board in nine of his 20 career starts and if he can avoid road trouble, he really doesn’t have much to beat in here. (2) CRAZYCAT drops down after a tour of the Freehold oval last week and draws inside. He is 0-29 this year with just one on the board finish so morning line favoritism was a bit troubling to see but he has a shot. (5) DROP THE MIC has been struggling of late and ships back into Freehold but he does have the highest TrackMaster rating in the field. [DRF BETS: Wager on today's Freehold Raceway card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: F&M TrackMaster 68.5 (4) SWEET MOVES is another one who doesn’t show much form of late but ships back in from the Meadowlands and meets the softest bunch she has seen in quite some time. She has a 1:57 3/5 mark at Freehold this year and picks up leading driver Austin Siegelman. (5) T H MRS MCMURRY disappointed last week as the 4:5 favorite showing limited interest while a well beaten third, losing to a horse that broke her maiden in her 53d career start. She has been a lot sharper over the last two months and certainly should have a say in here but needs to improve off last week’s effort. (3) JUST RENEE is just 1-34 this year with three on the board finishes but has shown some improvement of late, cashing checks in six of her last seven. Race 4:  TrackMaster 68.5 It’s difficult picking a winner in a race where the inside seven horses are a combined 7-185 in 2024. (5) AINTNOSUNSHINE won at this level back on 11/30 after leaving strongly and settling for the pocket. She was on the engine again two back, and settled for the pocket and finished third. There’s not a lot of early speed in here so she should be on or near the lead early on. (4) WAVES OF FIRE A really has had no chance of late with horrible draws and now draws favorably. She switches from drivers Cole Olsen and Kubi Erzene to Mark Herschberger, who has been hot of late and this 13-year-old could pull off the upset. (2) GOLD STAR YODER is the other main speed but has not been finishing miles well. She picks up the aggressive Tyler Miller and could end up with a pocket trip in here. Race 5: TrackMaster 72.5/Optional Claiming $7,500 (Trot) (Pick 5) (3) BACARDI went wire-to-wire two back at the Meadowlands in an Amateur event and has hit the board in three of his last four. There’s not a lot of early speed in here and he should be able to secure good early position. (4) FASHION FOREVER has hit the board in five of his last six with two wins at one level below. Last week at this level he was caught in a bit of traffic but finished strongly to get third. (8) SS TYS A FLYIN is a bit of a wild card shipping in from Rosecroft but has hit the board in seven consecutive races and has 11 exacta finishes in 32 starts in 2024. He has good early speed to offset the bad draw and it’s tough to think that Trae Porter won’t be firing off the gate. Race 6: F&M NW $2,500/TrackMaster 75.5   (5) CORSINI A has been dubbed by me as the “Rodney Dangerfield of Freehold” and is my sentimental choice. She has cashed checks in eleven consecutive races but has yet to win at Freehold this meet despite finishing second at 48-1 on 10/4 and third at 40-1 on 11/29. Hopefully today is the day this hard trying mare gets the respect she deserves. (4) ALMOST KAREN has won three of her last four, all at a slightly lower level but she seems to be peaking right now. She has seven wins in 2024 and sports a 1:56 mark here earlier this year. (3) PHELGON is one of Geovany Hernandez’s two entries in here. She has put in some solid efforts over at the Meadowlands the last three in the Amateur ranks including a second place finish last week in 1:52 4/5 but she may prefer a bigger track. Race 7: F&M TrackMaster 72.5/Optional Claiming $7,500 (3) GORGEOUS VIEW won at this level on 10/26 by 7 3/4 lengths in 1:56 flat and came back the next week to win again at Pocono. He has hit the board in five of his last seven and is a beaten favorite at this level back-to-back weeks. Last week he cleared the lead by the 3/8ths and was nailed late by Here Comes Red and had to settle for second missing by a half length. Today he looks to turn the tides. (4) HERE COMES RED settled into the pocket before the half mile marker and came up the passing lane to win last week by a half length. He now draws outside of last week’s pacesetter and it may be a tougher task. (7) CINDERLANE SHARK has seven wins in 2024 including two wins in last four at this level On 11/30 he closed strongly up the rail to win by a half length and two back sat a pocket trip and rode it to a length victory. (5) BANGIN has the highest TrackMaster rating in the field but has just one win in 35 starts this year. Race 8: NW $2,500 L5/TrackMaster 75.5 (Trot) (Pick 4) (2) MAKIN MAGIC TONITE has won her last three tries here at Freehold, all in wire-to-wire fashion, two of them being at this level. She has eight wins and eight second place finishes in 38 starts in 2024 and she’s the one to beat. (1) CONGRESS HILL EVA ships back in after six consecutive attempts over at the Meadowlands where she won and had two second place finishes. She may have to work out a trip as she is not fast off the car but she has by far the highest TrackMaster in this field. (8) ARCHERY SEELSTER is a bit of a wild card. He shipped in off almost five months last week from the Meadows and was well bet over at the Meadowlands. He has half mile experience over at Northfield, goes third time for Jeff Cullipher and seems to have some ability. Race 9: F&M TrackMaster 72.5 This is a wide open race with not a single horse you can completely count out. (6) SHORTYS GIRL went wire-to-wire powerfully from the eight hole last week at a lower level going first time for new trainer Rich Johnson and may try the same tactics in here. She has hit the board in seven out of 14 starts in 2024 and may be hitting her best stride. (4) BETTE TINA was facing slightly tougher here the last time we saw her at Freehold. She’s earned checks in four consecutive races over at the Meadowlands against tougher and is well positioned in here. (1) TARGARYEN EMPRESS had broken equipment last week in her first start off a two month break. She got caught this fall in some fast races against tough fields and she could wake up in here with the rail. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: TrackMaster 68.5/Optional Claiming $5,000 (2) CENTURY FURY finally draws back inside. The last time he drew inside she crushed a field at this level by seven lengths at 2:5 odds in 1:56 1/5. You have to be willing to ignore last week’s debacle from the outside coming off a sick scratch. He has by far the highest TrackMaster in this field. (1) SKYWAY BILLY came charging home late last week to finish third missing by just 3/4 of a length. His last try at Freehold before that was a fast closing second from the eight hole at this level. He’s a bit light on the win end with just four wins in 80 starts in 2023-24 but he has finished third twelve times this year. (3) ROCKABILLY CHARM never saw the pylons from the eight post in his return to Freehold last week and has been suffering from many bad draws the last few months. This 37 time winning 9-year-old could wake up in here.   Race 11: F&M TrackMaster 68.5 (1) THANEEYA won four back on 11/29 at this level wire-to-wire at 2:5 odds. Last week she was a game uncovered second. These efforts were her last two tires at Freehold. She is perfectly situated to find good early position. (4) BELLA’S DREAM is a bit of a wild card in here. The 3-year-old ships in from Dover where she was battling in the Delaware Standardbred Futurity series. She has just four wins in 42 career starts but has hit the board 21-43 times and went wire-to-wire at Dover on 11/13 in 1:56 2/5. (2) BLUEBIRD CRUSH won here on 11/22 at this level at 1:20 odds and had a 1:57 3/5 mark here earlier this year. She has tailed off a bit late into her 3-year-old campaign but she is more than capable.
