Following the 41st edition of the Breeders’ Cup last weekend at Del Mar, there is now a logjam atop the event’s list of all-time leading sires, with some of the world’s standouts represented. Five-time reigning North American leading sire Into Mischief, the late, great shuttle sire More Than Ready, and European standout Dubawi each had a win on the weekend and are now tied with another leading American sire, Curlin, with eight career wins each at the event. Into Mischief, who stands at Spendthrift Farm, added another win to his résumé as his son Citizen Bull won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. His other Breeders’ Cup wins have come with Goldencents in the 2013 and 2014 Dirt Mile, Gamine in the 2019 and 2020 Filly and Mare Sprint, Authentic in the 2020 Classic, Life Is Good in the 2021 Dirt Mile, and Wonder Wheel in the 2022 Juvenile Fillies. Into Mischief is dominating the North American sire list again this year, with progeny earnings of $32,084,358 through Sunday. He has already smashed his own single-season earnings record – $28,574,633 from 2022 – in pursuit of his sixth straight title, which he has virtually locked up. Gun Runner , the sire of Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Sierra Leone, is next on the list at $20,346,320. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Join DRF Bets. Dubawi stands under the Godolphin operation’s Darley stallions banner at its Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket, England. His son Rebel’s Romance won the Breeders’ Cup Turf for the second time on Saturday, after also taking the event in 2022, thus pushing his sire to eight wins. Along with Rebel’s Romance, Dubawi is the sire of Modern Games, who won the 2021 Juvenile Turf and 2022 Mile, along with 2017 Filly and Mare Turf winner Wuheida, 2021 Turf winner Yibir, 2021 Mile winner Space Blues, and 2023 Mile winner Master of The Seas. More Than Ready has previously recorded Breeders’ Cup winners on both dirt and turf, and around both one and two turns, with 2010 Juvenile Fillies Turf winner More Than Real, 2010 Juvenile Turf winner Pluck, 2011 Turf Sprint winner Regally Ready, 2017 and 2018 Sprint winner Roy H, 2017 Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Rushing Fall, and 2019 Mile winner Uni. The stallion died in 2022 at WinStar Farm, after achieving elite status in both the United States and Australia, where he shuttled for many years. More Than Looks gave him an eighth Breeders’ Cup win, posthumously, in this year’s Mile. Curlin, who stands at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm, got his best finish in this Breeders’ Cup with Raging Sea, who was second in the Distaff to Horse of the Year candidate Thorpedo Anna. He is the sire of Breeders’ Cup winners Good Magic in the 2017 Juvenile, Vino Rosso in the 2019 Classic, Cody’s Wish in the 2022 and 2023 Dirt Mile, Elite Power in the 2022 and 2023 Sprint, Malathaat in the 2022 Distaff, and Idiomatic in the 2023 Distaff. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
