Four juveniles by four different stallions breezed a furlong in 10 seconds flat to move into a tie for the fastest time as the under-tack preview show for the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-year-olds in training sale completed its second of two sessions Wednesday.  This is the first of two juvenile sales Fasig-Tipton will hold at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. After next week’s sale, with sessions on Monday and Tuesday, the auction company will host a sale in late June. Both sales, which offer 2-year-olds the opportunity to breeze over the dirt track at Timonium, will likely receive some added interest due to the hiatus this year of Fasig-Tipton’s Gulfstream sale. The Midlantic May sale, which has grown in prominence in recent years, gets added luster from the preceding Preakness Stakes at nearby Pimlico, and this year got some extra sparkle. Kentucky Derby winner Mage is a graduate of last year’s sale – as is unbeaten Faiza, the favorite for Friday’s Black-Eyed Susan. Working a furlong in 10 flat on Wednesday were colts by Bolt d'Oro and Twirling Candy and fillies by Into Mischief and Take Charge Indy. They are tied with an Awesome Slew colt who breezed on Tuesday for the bullet work.  Bolt d'Oro was last year's leading freshman sire by earnings. His co-bullet colt is consigned by Kings Equine, as agent for Spendthrift Farm, which stands the young stallion. The colt is out of the stakes-placed More than Ready mare Masasi, who has produced two winners from three starters. She is a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Custom For Carlos. The Twirling Candy colt, consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales, agent, is the first foal out of the winning War Front mare Lady Mamba. She is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed Luminance and graded stakes-placed Stellar Sound. It is the immediate family of the outstanding broodmare Versailles Treaty.  Four-time reigning leading sire Into Mischief's bullet-sharing filly is a full sister to his multiple graded stakes winner Engage. Their dam, the stakes-placed Speightstown mare Nefertiti, has produced three winners from as many starters overall. The filly is consigned by Golden Rock Thoroughbreds, agent.  Rounding out the quartet is the Take Charge Indy filly, consigned by de Meric Sales, agent. She is out of the stakes-placed Songandaprayer mare Perfect Paula, dam of eight winners from nine starters. Those are led by Grade 3 winner Take Charge Paula, a full sister to this filly.  For hip-by-hip breeze show results, click here.
