It’s less than a half-hour from Journeyman Stud in Reddick, Fla., to Ocala Stud in the eponymous city. Khozan is taking a short trip from one farm to another – but while his barn is changing, his location atop Florida’s leading sire list has not. Khozan, who won his two career starts brilliantly, has spent his entire stallion career to date at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud. The Distorted Humor horse, who is a half-brother to Hall of Fame racemare Royal Delta, got off to a good start, leading the Florida first-crop and 2-year-old sire lists with his initial runners in 2019. Khozan has led the state’s general sire list for five consecutive years since. His 2024 progeny earnings were $5,664,578, easily outpacing runner-up Neolithic (Pleasant Acres Stallions) at $2,879,158. His success will have to continue in a new location, as a change of direction for Journeyman is resulting in Khozan’s move to Ocala Stud. “Standing stallions is a seven-day-a-week job,” Brent Fernung said. “Crystal and I decided towards the end of last breeding season that it was time for us to redirect our energy elsewhere. When we discussed where to move Khozan to, Ocala Stud was the only choice. The O’Farrells do a great job, and we know we are leaving Khozan in the best of hands.” Khozan sired three individual stakes winners in 2024 and continued to show his ability to produce open-company talent. After running well through the FTBOA Florida Sire series in 2023, his Florida-bred daughter R Harper Rose stepped up to win the Grade 3 Forward Gal Stakes. “We’re excited to welcome Khozan to Ocala Stud,” general manager David O’Farrell said. “He has proven his ability to sire top-class racehorses, and we’re looking forward to offering breeders the opportunity to breed to the state’s leading sire.” Win Win Win a standout freshman Grade 1 winner Win Win Win got his stud career off to a strong start as Florida’s leading freshman sire, and he proved to be a factor on other sire lists as well. Win Win Win, a Florida-bred homebred for Live Oak Stud, scored the biggest of his three stakes wins in the Grade 1 Forego Stakes in 2020. He retired to Ocala Stud in his home state. The young stallion is by Japanese champion miler Hat Trick, a son of Sunday Silence, providing a rare link to that sire in the United States. Win Win Win was represented by 10 winners from 27 starters in his first crop for earnings on the season of $797,233. Not only did that easily rank him atop Florida’s freshman list, it put him atop established sire Neolithic on the state’s overall 2-year-old sires list. It also snuck him into the state’s top 20 general sires. Win Win Win ranked 16th nationally among freshman sires and was the second-highest-earning stallion in the class outside of Kentucky. Win Win Win sired a pair of stakes winners in 2024. Florida-bred Nooni, a $1.8 million Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. juvenile purchase, won the Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes and was second in the Grade 2 Oak Leaf Stakes. Back home, Win N Your In won the Sharp Susan Stakes and the FTBOA Florida Sire Susan’s Girl Stakes, and she was third in the FTBOA Florida Sire Desert Vixen Stakes.
