Churchill Downs will open its first 2025 Kentucky Derby future wager pool this Wednesday with 38 individual 2-year-olds on offer as well as two field bets. This is the third year that Churchill has offered a Derby future wager leading up to the Breeders’ Cup. The results of the five Breeders’ Cup races restricted to 2-year-olds held on Friday will significantly impact the betting odds for this year’s crop of juveniles, and the Derby future wager will close at 6 p.m. Eastern on Friday, just prior to post time of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Wagering in the Derby future wagers is parimutuel. All bets are non-refundable. :: Subscribe to the DRF Post Time Email Newsletter: Get the news you need to play today's races!  East Avenue, the undefeated colt who is 5-2 on DRF’s morning line for the Juvenile, has been made the 10-1 individual favorite in the field of 38 colts. Chancer McPatrick, 3-1 on DRF’s morning line for the Juvenile, and Jonathan’s Way, 5-1, have been made the co-second choices, at 12-1. The field bet for “all other colts” is listed at 4-5 on the morning line, while the field for “all fillies” is listed as 75-1 on the morning line. Churchill plans to offer six total Derby future wagers through the 2025 race, which is scheduled for May 3. The “all other” field in the Derby future wagers typically closes as the favorite until March.  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
