HALLANDALE BEACH, Fl. - Trainer Todd Pletcher was busy on a couple of fronts during training hours Friday. At Palm Beach Downs, reigning 2-year-old champion Fierceness continued to prepare for his next start, which is expected to be in the $1 million Florida Derby here March 30. He worked five furlongs from the half-mile pole in 1:00.95 before galloping out six panels in 1:13.91 with regular rider John Velazquez aboard and in company with Tuscan Sky, according to Daily Racing Form clocker David Norton. "It was another excellent work for him this morning. The horse is doing really well," said Pletcher. "He went off a little slow the first eighth. That's why we have the radio. I told [he riders] to finish the work at the seven-furlong pole instead of the finish line. And the gallop-out was outstanding. "He gives you a lot of confidence watching him train and watching him breeze. I didn't think he could have been training any better than he was going into the Holy Bull, either. Obviously he had trouble at the start that day and he had to be used hard to get to the right spot. Maybe it took more out of him than we thought." As for Agate Road, Pletcher said he was pleased with his effort this morning as well while adding that he was leaning towards the Louisiana Derby for his next start. "He's doing well, he's an excellent work horse, although not as spectacular as Fierceness," said Pletcher. Agate Road also worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 with Velazquez up at the training center while paired with Antiquarian. :: Access morning workout reports straight from the tracks and get an edge with DRF Clocker Reports At Gulfstream Park, Pletcher worked the team of multiple stakes winner Noted and Tireless four furlongs over the quick Tapeta surface in 46.49 seconds, per Daily Racing Form, with Noted galloping out three lengths clear in an impressive 58.71. "I thought his last work was a little dull on the dirt and since we're looking at the Jeff Ruby Stakes next for him, I felt it would help to get him on the synthetic," Pletcher explained when asked why he shipped Noted from his Palm Beach Downs base to work at Gulfstream this morning. "We don't work that many horses on the Tapeta track at Gulfstream, and I know that surface can produce fast times, but Luis Saez worked him and said he was very happy with the way he went this morning."    Pletcher also said that Speak Easy, who scratched from Saturday's Grade 2 Fountain of Youth after injuring himself in the post parade just minutes before post time, has arrived safely at WinStar Farm, where he will  undergo treatment in the hyperbaric chamber in the hopes of facilitating the healing process on the wounds he suffered in the incident.  "Hopefully we'll get him back in training sooner rather than later," said Pletcher, who admitted the chances of Speak Easy getting back in time to remain on the Kentucky Derby trail seemed slim under the circumstances.    :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
