OZONE PARK, N.Y. – There does not appear to be a standout nor a throwout in the Grade 2, $250,000 Remsen Stakes, which drew a field of 10 2-year-olds trying to negotiate 1 1/8 miles. The favorite for the race is not easily identifiable with perhaps Moonlight, second in the Street Sense Stakes, Dornoch, a maiden winner and  full brother to Kentucky Derby winner Mage, and Domestic Product, a maiden winner at 1 1/8 miles vying for that title. :: Bet with the Best! Moonlight, a son of Audible, was an eight-length maiden winner in his second start, an off-the-turf race at Aqueduct on Sept. 28. He then caught a sloppy track and was second best to Liberal Arts in the Street Sense at Churchill Downs. He has gone off favored in all three of his starts. Moonlight is trained by Todd Pletcher, a three-time Remsen winner who also sends out Private Desire, fourth in the Nashua to longshot Where’s Chris, who is back in this field as well. Dornoch, in his second start, went off favored in the Sapling Stakes at Monmouth where he finished second to Noted. Dornoch came back to win his maiden by an impressive 6 1/2 lengths going 1 1/16 miles around two turns at Keeneland. Dornoch is trained by Danny Gargan, who won last year’s Remsen with Dubyuhnell. The Remsen field, from the rail out, is Le Dom Bro, Domestic Product, Dornoch, Moonlight, Drum Roll Please, Billal, Sierra Leone, Where’s Chris, Copper Tax, and Private Desire. The top five finishers in the Remsen receive qualifying points (10-5-3-2-1) toward next spring’s Kentucky Derby. An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated Dornoch's relation to Mage. He is a full brother, not a half-brother. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
