FanDuel is the first legal sports betting operator to roll out front-facing artificial intelligence functionality with a program called AceAI, as detailed in Tuesday story posted at Forbes.com. The Flutter Entertainment-owned platform launched its generative AI chat feature that “talks” to bettors. FanDuel customers can use this feature to perform relevant research and formulate their favorite bet slips based on FanDuel’s available betting catalog.  The AI feature is only available for about one percent of FanDuel customers and can only answer questions related to the NFL and NBA, although there are plans to expand its reach and knowledge base. Setting an industry standard FanDuel is one of the U.S. leaders in sports betting. And the new AI feature is part of its commitment to staying at the top of the game, a company official said. “As the leading sportsbook we think there’s an opportunity for us to set the pace on what experiences should look like for customers,” FanDuel VP of Product Transformation and Innovation Jon Sadow, who led the development of the product, told Forbes. “We are in a position as a market leader to have a tremendous amount of data that we can actually put into customers’ hands that empower them to make educated decisions.” AceAI can answer questions such as “How many points did LeBron James score in his last three games?” or “How many touchdowns has Joe Burrow thrown this season?” It can also understand commands like “Create a parlay of Lamar Jackson anytime touchdown scorer plus Jayson Tatum 6+ assists” and then assemble those parlays directly in its interface. AceAI can also assist in detecting warning signs of problem gambling on the FanDuel sportsbook. In the event that it notices these behavioral patterns, it will direct customers to a variety of resources such as FanDuel’s responsible gambling site and send an alert to FanDuel employees in charge of monitoring problem gambling. The AI boom FanDuel is undecided on whether it will release AceAI to its full customer base before the next NFL season starts in September. Regardless, the utilization of AI is a fair reflection of the national trend. Popular AI programs such as ChatGPT have made menial tasks quick and effortless, putting the full power of the internet at the fingertips of users. Not only are companies embracing this wave, but so are professional sports. The PGA Tour announced earlier this week that it will debut an AI-powered shot commentary system called TOURCAST. This program will allow fans to follow flight paths and gain access to a bevy of analytics for every shot. As FanDuel makes it easier for customers to find and place bets, it is also sticking to its commitment to responsible gambling. The platform in December rolled out “My Spend,” a personalized dashboard that makes it easy for customers to track their money and follow their budget. My Spend also has links to wager and deposit limits, responsible gambling resources, and more.  "As we look to continuously raise the standard for what it means to be a responsible operator, we look forward to continuing to bring new and innovative ways to support our customers,” said Alison Kutler, FanDuel’s Vice President of Responsible Gaming and Community Impact, per PR Newswire.
