Du Jour, winner of the Grade 2 American Turf at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day, has been transferred from trainer Bob Baffert to Bill Mott and is pointing to the Grade 1 Belmont Derby on July 10. Du Jour, a son of Temple City, is owned in partnership by Jill Baffert - Bob’s wife - and Debbie Lanni, the widow of former casino executive Terry Lanni. The New York Racing Association announced last month that it would not accept entries nor allot stall space to Baffert indefinitely in light of the post-race medication positive of Medina Spirit following his first-place finish in the Kentucky Derby. :: Join DRF Bets and play the races with a $250 First Deposit Bonus. On Sunday, Du jour had his second workout for Mott, going a half-mile in 48.65 seconds over the Belmont Park training track. Du Jour lost his first two starts, but has won his last three including a pair of one-mile races at Santa Anita and then the Grade 2 American Turf at 1 1/16-miles. The Belmont Derby is run at 1 1/4 miles. “From what I can tell he looks like it, but he hasn’t done it yet,” Mott said when asked if he felt Du Jour could run that far.
