Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 1:18 MTH 2nd JOHN BOOK (#8, 10-1) is out of a dam who won four races, and though three were dirt routes she also won sprinting; she's produced three winners, all of them capable sprinting on the dirt, and this 5-year-old needn't be the next great Jersey bred to win this belated debut. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:46 MTH 3rd PRINCIPIA (#8, 6-1) cuts back to a sprint, and while she's winless at this distance she has won sprinting in the past; she's clearly in good form, coming off a win going two turns in her latest, and she should be set up to make a late run given the presence of several speed-types to her inside. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:52 LRL 4th Willing to give VESELSKY (#2, 15-1) a mulligan for his Timonium start as a four-furlong dash probably isn't his cup of tea. Hit the board in his last two starts over this circuit over more conventional tracks, including a runner-up effort at 20-1 two starts back. Should offer some value on the tote, and can kick on in the stretch if given enough pace to attack. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:57 KD 2nd FORT THOMAS (#8, 6-1) is a nine-race maiden who lacks positional pace, not my kind of horse, yet he is not at all out of his element at a fair price in this middling race. The very meh Kentucky Downs start last season came at a distance well short of his best and before the addition of blinkers, which at least coincided with improvement if they didn't directly facilitate it. -Marcus Hersh | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:43 GP 4th DRINK N WINK (#8, 8-1) has tried nothing but two turns in his short career so bonus points for that. He has improved or tied his Beyer speed figure in every start. He blew the start off the layoff all while facing tougher and getting little tote play when sent off at 47-1. Now he gets a new barn that is 15% with recent acquisitions. This horse has worked twice since his return try and his most recent drill was a much sharper 12th of 137. If a better try is on tap it should come in this spot. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:38 MTH 7th PARISIAN VIBE (#4, 12-1) was rained off the grass in her latest, and she was in against better in her prior try; she prompted a very quick pace in that even shorter sprint three back and she could get clear in the opening stages of this race, which isn't overloaded with speed. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:48 GP 6th CRUISING (#1, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:06 MTH 8th RUNNING RIGHT BY U (#3, 20-1) was caught too close to the pace in that last one, which featured a good amount of speed and set up for the closers, and he had trouble in his prior few starts; seems to be at his best when he's allowed to take back off the speeds and make a run in the lane and he can spring an upset here if he reverts to those tactics. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:30 DMR 1st SKY SAILING (#2, 8-1) could not take the heat chasing a quick pace last time in her first against winners, but her maiden-20 win two back would be plenty fast enough for this low-level N2L claiming sprint. The pace is likely to be softer. -Brad Free | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:42 KD 7th Didn't mind TIZTASTIC's (#10, 8-1) dirt debut, liked his SAR turf work, and liked even more his KD win opening day, albeit in a Keeneland sales race, ie heavily restricted. That was 6 1/2 and he's a robust specimen who looks like he'll be even better at one mile, and is bred along the same lines. -Marcus Hersh | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:17 WO 9th PEJA DU (#1, 10-1) got a break after getting softened up in a speed duel in a July 5 starter-optional claimer. He lost a heartbreaker to the imposing favorite Alley Oop Johnny the time before on the inner turf, after beating that rival with the aid of a speed bias on the Tapeta in his local debut. -Ron Gierkink | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:22 GP 9th LE BEAU (#2, 6-1) improved his Beyer last out even though he was facing first time winners. He is bred to love the grass and now tries the sod in back to back starts. His form cycle hints at better. The blinkers go ON which is a 25% move for team Joseph. First call rider stays put and this filly figures as good a trip as anyone. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:30 DMR 3rd Third last out after setting the pace while making her first start in nearly a year, CYPRUS MOON (#9, 8-1) should be fitter second start back. A two-start filly, she is quick enough to make the lead in this relatively paceless maiden turf sprint. Long gone, second start back. -Brad Free | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:51 KD 9th SASHAY AWAY (#8, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Marcus Hersh). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 8:32 DMR 9th Third in his career debut at five furlongs on turf, the maiden SCIPIO (#8, 12-1) stretches out with a big shot to upset this G3 turf mile for 2yos. SCIPIO was best in his debut. He was restless in gate, broke slowly, and lost all chance. But he produced an extended rally and finished willingly on the outside. Two turns should be up his alley. Tab for an upset, second time out. -Brad Free | Bet this race with DRF Bets
