Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 1:18 TAM 3rd FAITH'S SPIRIT (#5, 12-1) is out of Qualia, a graded-stakes-placed runner who earned over $173K, and she's produced six winners; this colt has turned in some decent breezes for his debut and he figures to be overlooked some in the wagering. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:26 AQU 3rd JOLLY MISS JILL (#1, 6-1) totally bombed when dropped in class on short rest last time, though that final margin is a bit exaggerated as she was being eased off from a long way out; better than that and moves right back up in class off the claim for Potts - first after claimed by, dirt, sprint: 22 for his last 96, 23%, $2.18 ROI. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:28 LRL 5th Thirteen-time winner SPLICETHEMAINBRACE (#2, 6-1) exits solid try at Penn National behind favored Rustys Gfivefifty. Carved out the fractions, then hung in pretty tough for second. Won't be surprised if he tries to control the pace. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:50 TAM 6th GULLFAXI (#6, 20-1) is an upgrade candidate after racing well off the pace in a race lacking speed in his latest; that shouldn't be an issue for her today, as this short field contains a couple of runners who do their best work when on or near the lead, and she can make the last run if she gets an improved race flow. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:01 AQU 4th DURKIN'S CALL (#4, 4-1) caught a wet track off the layoff and took a hold early to track the pace before making a run around the turn and tiring; better over fast dirt and has the races to be tough in here if he can rebound; last win came back in November of 2022 when first off the claim for Rice, and he was also first off the claim for this trainer in the win prior to that one. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:09 GP 5th MR BRIZEL (#1, 15-1) was facing first time winners last out and got knocked around at the start a bit. He was less than two lengths back at the 1/8th pole and simply couldn't do more. He catches a race with no pace. There wasn't much pace two back when this guy broke his maiden and he drew inside that day also. Upside can't be missed. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:22 LRL 7th SHERO (#6, 8-1) finished ahead of three next-out winners (fifth-finisher then won a $30,000 starter-optional here with a 71 Beyer) when a solid second at Penn National on 2/1. Tracked a quick opening quarter from the pocket, advanced in between horses on the turn, then just held the place on the wire. Sixteen-time winner was freshened after that start, tuned up for this with a bullet work, and has lots of early speed. Hernandez departs for Moonsafe. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:00 SA 1st J DUTTON (#6, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Brad Free). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:33 AQU 7th SWEET MYSTERY (#3, 10-1) figures to be a fair price in this running of the Biogio's Rose, which handicaps wide-open and has a chance to be run at a solid pace. Not sure that she wants nine furlongs but she ran a good one over that distance last time while only second-best; contends with her best effort as she cuts back looking for a trip. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:56 TAM 10th SQUINTS (#2, 5-1) has been training well enough toward his seasonal debut for trainer Kelly Breen and he lands in a seemingly good spot in the Sophomore Stakes in terms of race flow, as he should be nicely set up to make a late run; should offer some value due to the fact that his Beyers are light compared with some of the top contenders but he has lots of room to improve off the layoff and given the right set up. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:02 AQU 8th LAST DRINK (#9, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 6:03 TAM 12th One more try for GENERAL COMMAND (#2, 6-1), who has failed to run back to a promising effort in his first start off the layoff in three starts since that December sprint; perhaps the duel cost him in his next try, the turf route is easily forgiven and he did run well enough in his latest but this does seem to be his best shot to get that elusive second career win. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 6:21 GG 4th Considering the way trainer Isidro Tamayo's runners frequently run well after layoffs, DON'T TELL HYDEE (#2, 5-1) can be a factor in this conditional $4,000 claimer at six furlongs in her first start since late December. Don't Tell Hydee had an excellent 2023 season, winning three of 12 starts. The now 5-year-old mare was effective when setting the pace or racing near the front and can easily claim the role of pacesetter in this field of seven. She has a steady pattern of works since Feb. 11 for her comeback. -Steve Andersen | Bet this race with DRF Bets 7:09 SA 7th Northern California comebacker CLOVISCONNECTION (#7, 7-2) gets top billing in this Cal-bred sprint stakes on the hill. The gelding returns with a solid work pattern and 7-for-10 career record that includes five stakes wins in Northern California and Washington. He fires fresh (debut winner, comeback winner), and while his Southern California "class" is uncertain, he defeated a top rival his most recent start in October: five-time stakes winner Top Harbor. -Brad Free | Bet this race with DRF Bets 7:57 GG 7th Three of the key participants in an allowance race at a mile on March 3 are part of this competitive field of eight in an allowance race at 1 1-16 miles. The slightly longer distance gives J D'S RUDE BOY (#7, 10-1) an excellent chance to win for the second time in his last four starts. J D's Rude Boy closed well to finish a neck behind UNION WAVE on March 3 and an additional sixteenth of a mile should be a benefit. With Debz Tiz and No Secret likely to be prominent early, J D's Rude Boy should have a pace to follow. -Steve Andersen | Bet this race with DRF Bets
