Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:05 BAQ 1st BATTLE DRUM (#3, 9-2) debuted in a Saratoga MSW race that might be underrated, and this colt's effort in that sot might also be better than it looks on paper, as he followed the impressive Early Adopter from off the pace and stayed gamely in the stretch despite winding up between horses late; well-bred colt can build on that effort for Pletcher, who wins infrequently with first time starters routing on turf. - Mike Beer  | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:55 GP 1st PALPITO (#9, 4-1) tried a tough two turns on the turf in his debut and even showed speed before tiring late. That race came back key when 3 of 9 returned to win with figs of 69, 70, and 73 (2 more finished 2nd with figs of 76 and 63). New barn wants a synth sprint all on the class drop and they are 33% route to sprint and 17% turf to synth. - Scott Ehlers  | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:44 WO 2nd SECRET LOAD (#3, 3-1) was competitive in the majority of her six Tapeta outings and could make a successful transition to the grass, even though she doesn't have a quality turf pedigree. - Ron Gierkink  | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:09 BAQ 5th MIGHTY ATLAS (#2, 6-1) was a nose away from winning three straight over this track and trip back in the spring while earning competitive figures in all of those starts; went longer than he prefers off the short layoff last time and tired after cutting the pace ahead of a few of these same rivals; needs his best cutting back with tactical speed. - Mike Beer  | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:34 GP 6th BIG PARADISE (#5, 7-2) is by a 21% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YOs only). His dam went 4-1-1-0 and banked 16K. Both sibs won with the best going 10-4-2-1 and earning 223K. Works are perfect and all for a barn that is 20% with their 1st start runners. - Scott Ehlers  | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:14 BAQ 9th SCOTLAND (#2, 7-2) shaped with potential in one-turn races early on, but his connections were forced to press on going longer after he posted an easy win in the two-turn Curlin last summer; has returned sprinting this year and raced his way back into shape before getting out to this distance and posting an easy win when last seen; can handle this step up in class and has the right running style for this race. - Mike Beer 4:24 LRL 9th ACADEMY (#3, 6-1) showed improved speed in second lifetime start, set a three-ply pace along with 26-1 Bright Angel (finished ninth) and 20-1 Grey Shadow (finished eighth), put those two away, then dug in gamely to deny the runner-up despite bumping that foe in the stretch. Disqualified from the win that day, but showed determination, and can get close to the pace once again. - Dan Illman 4:37 WO 7th WELLNESS (#10, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet. - Ron Gierkink 5:17 BAQ 11th EARLY ADOPTER (#8, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet. - Mike Beer 5:35 SA 5th ZONA VERDE (#6, 9-2) shortens to a sprint and drops in class after two solid tries in graded stakes, runner-up in a G2 and third last out in the G1 Del Mar Oaks. 'VERDE has run well on the hill, she is the class of the field, and can rally for the win in this hillside sprint stakes for 3yo fillies. - Brad Free 7:07 SA 8th BIG INVASION (#11, 3-1), a 9-for-20 East Coast shipper who finished second in the five-furlong BC Turf Sprint at SA last fall, is the choice to mow them down in his first try on the hill. A deep closer, he benefits by an abundance of speed to flatter his kick and enters as the class of the field. - Brad Free 7:56 MED 3rd OHANA EMPIRE (#9, 5-1) didn't run badly at all in that route try last time but the effort when last in a sprint, two back, was a very strong effort, as he was moving well late and he was beaten less than two lengths in a visually impressive race; needs pace, especially at this shorter distance, but he can run them all down late if he gets it. - Kenny Peck 9:26 RP 5th REBELENA (#2, 4-1) ran a credible third off the bench last time, when she hooked a quality kind of winner. She would seem to have reason to move forward in her second start back. - Mary Rampellini
