Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:50 MTH 1st RUNNINGTHENUMBERS (#1, 6-1) was off the board in his only two-turn gras try to date but that was against open company and he earned a representative figure in defeat; eligible to run them all down late if he can run back to that Beyer. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:34 WO 2nd PLAYFULLY FRAC'IN (#6, 10-1) ran against a speed bias last time while closing from fourth to contend for the lead at the head of the stretch, only to fade late to fourth. That was her first two-turn attempt and she deserves another chance on the grass, over which she had a troubled trip on debut. -Ron Gierkink | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:04 GP 3rd TIZ RUDDY BEN (#5, 8-1) broke 7th of 8 in his debut and then ran OK till the top of the stretch before calling it a day. He has since worked a bullet while seven of eight sibs beat winners. Debut rider stays put and this horse might be the best price on the tote. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:29 KD 3rd SOSUA SUMMER (#3, 8-1) won a turf sprint stakes in January but not a graded turf stake, thus qualifying for this very rich allowance race. He also ran once at Kentucky Downs, a good closing third that suggests he's fine on this course. Off Lasix when way below his best form in last two starts, and takes a solid class drop from the G1 Jaipur. Would feel a little better at 6f than 6 1/2. -Marcus Hersh | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:34 KD 5th The numbers for trainer V Oliver with first-time starters don't shine, but the last two KD meets she has sent out a pair of 2yos to debut in KD maiden-specials, one finishing third, the other fifth, both at a long price. ESMARK (#10, 12-1) on pedigree should be a turf horse, and I though the KEE workout video of her Aug. 16 gate drill with two others was pretty encouraging. -Marcus Hersh | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:37 MTH 8th CANADIAN PHAROAH (#2, 6-1) settled for the place when a remote 2nd behind Rhumjar in that last one but that was a strong effort, as he was against the race flow yet rallied with interest; he should get an improved pace scenario in this one and may be able to get there first with a late run despite the rise in class. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:42 KD 7th I consider Blame to be more a turf sire than dirt, and PENNY'S SMILE (#10, 8-1) is out of a Galileo mare, so this grass debut probably bodes well for her chances. Decent runs all three of her starts, was rained out of a potential grass debut last time, enters fresh and under the radar. -Marcus Hersh | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:46 WO 8th FOOLISH GAMES (#9, 6-1) didn't get out to where she likes to be on the early lead last time and was never a serious factor. She's landed in a spot where she could dominate the front-end proceedings after breaking from the outside under regular rider Moreno. -Ron Gierkink | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:47 GP 8th HELLO HELLO HELLO (#1, 9-2) was stuck in the 10 hole in her debut and it was going two turns on the turf. She ran great to finish 5th beaten only 2 1/4 lengths. We spy two multiple win siblings that banked 216K and 134K on the turf. This filly draws tons better and has a slew of works since her debut. The only knock is that this barn is 0 for 20 with maiden second time starters. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:05 LAD 1st JONAS GRUMBY's (#8, 15-1) sire is 0 for 3 with debut runners. His dam went 9-1-0-2 for 33K. Of 6 sibs to race, 5 won and all 5 beat winners. Two sibs earned over 150K. Two sibs won their 2YO debuts. Works are fine and team Dandridge won their only other debut maiden and it paid $25.80. JOSH G is on the AE list for today's 6th race which is a stakes. Five of six sibs beat winners. This colt broke last in his debut but still passed a few all while getting valuable race experience. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:30 LAD 2nd ASPEN LINK (#1, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:50 KD 9th Doubt AG BULLET (#3, 12-1) will be as high as 12-1. She is, after all, 5-6 on turf and 3-3 in turf sprints. Of course, the lone failure came in her only start outside SoCal, but I have no problem just drawing a line through the Distaff Turf Mile - unless this course comes up wet again, as she does seem like a firm ground kind of horse. Her Osunitas was visually striking, and she's better at a long sprint like this than that two-turn mile. Like the look of the post-Osunitas drills and she seems set for something very competitive. -Marcus Hersh | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:54 WO 10th WETIKO (#10, 10-1) is taking a pretty good turf pedigree into his first grass start in this $15K maiden route on the inner course and could prevail at a square price in his first try off a $7.5K claim. -Ron Gierkink | Bet this race with DRF Bets 6:36 GP 11th OCALA ROCKET (#6, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 7:35 LAD 7th BEHEMAH STAR (#10, 15-1) is a hard trier that might actually be better on the grass something he returns to today. When last seen on the sod, this gelding won a stakes race at the Fair Grounds and did so at 18-1. He was just off the pace that day and we see a similar trip today. The layoff is short and this horse has a pair of local works. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 8:00 LAD 8th CLEARLY A TEST (#6, 8-1) is feeling great as she has won three of her last four starts. Recent two turn tries are rock solid but what if this filly is better going one turn? Her first three sprints came at Saratoga so somebody thought highly of her. She won at the Fair Grounds going one turn off the layoff and then tried stakes foes in her next two sprints where she more than held her own. It was mostly routes after that expect for that seven furlong win only three back and yes in a stakes race. This barn is 19% on the cut back and they show a flat bet profit. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 8:52 CBY 6th RETIRED KATHY (#4, 8-1) is an improving 3YO and we like those the later we get into the year. This filly is just better going two turns. We liked how she switched to the dirt last out and won at 12-1. She did it without Lasix which is the case today. Race flow is average at best but that was the case in her most recent. This barn is 15% going dirt to turf and the price might entice. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets
