Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:25 LRL 1st THEODORA GRACE (#10, 5-1) won going third after a layoff in 2022 and repeats that pattern after failing to stay two turns. Stalked from the rail, raced in between on the backstretch, then failed to sprint home with the top ones. Competitive over course and distance against a couple of these two back, her first start following a 212-day break, she can threaten with a late bid. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:13 WO 5th ONTARIO HOLIDAY (#8, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:22 GP 6th SOLIDARIA (#2, 5-1) is by a 8 for 15 debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO's only). Her dam went 6-1-3-0 and earned 64K. This is her first foal. This February bred has an age advantage over many of these and works are solid. THE BEACH GOES ON is by a 24% debut sire. Her dam went 13-1-2-4 and earned 32K. Of 4 sibs to race, 3 won including a pair of multiple winners (102K and 65K). The rail draw is a bit of bad luck going this distance. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:27 MTH 4th GONNA BE EPIC (#6, 9-2) stumbled at the start of his latest and that cost him, as he trailed early as a result and the slow fractions in that race made it tough for him to make up ground in the lane; prior Beyers make him a legit threat today if he can run to them, and given a clean getaway he should be able to do just that. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:32 SAR 5th FUNNY JOKE (#5, 8-1) is at his best sprinting on fast dirt, something he has managed to get the chance to do infrequently since winning the first two starts of his career; was sent on a fast pace and tired in the late stages when returned from an extended layoff last here month, but he can rate and run and there is plenty of speed in this field for him to come after. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:41 LRL 7th HAPPY JAUNT (#1, 6-1) ran well in first start off the claim. Broke sharp, settled outside near the back, made a looping move into the stretch, then stayed on gamely for second behind a rail-skimming, odds-on winner. Lightly-raced 3-year-old still has some upside potential, and can kick strongly in the stretch given some pace to attack. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:45 WO 6th STEAK AND CHEESE (#4, 12-1) lost his rider early while ducking in and proceeded to run the wrong way around the track while avoiding the others at the top of the stretch. He displayed good inner turf form last summer and could wire this field while changing bug riders to Bynoe. -Ron Gierkink | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:05 SAR 6th PACIFIC HIGHWAY (#7, 15-1) has a solid pedigree - by a reliable sire; dam has dropped seven winning foals already, including His Glory, a 2yo debut winner and graded stakes-placed juvenile; this is also the female family of 2yo champion colt Classic Empire; Reynolds gets few opportunities with horses like this but he knows what he is doing and is 3 for his last 15 with first-time starters on dirt with a $2.40 ROI - has had three others in that sample finish second or third at odds of 15/1, 20/1, and 22/1. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:17 WO 7th MAAKWA (#3, 6-1) is coming off back-to-back huge front-running efforts vs. N1X/$32K adversaries in his first two starts around two turns, scoring most recently with an 84 Beyer. There's other speed in this seven-furlong conditioned allowance/optional claimer, but he could strike again with his confidence on a high. -Ron Gierkink | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:21 GP 8th REFUGIADA (#5, 6-1) tries the dirt for only the second time and her first was a winning one on debut. Works are are well spaced all for a barn that is 23% when returning off this type of layoff. Class drop is the icing on the cake. -Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:24 MTH 6th MISS CASEY (#5, 7-2) broke a step slowly in her latest but she recovered quickly enough to secure position just off the speeds and she drew off nicely after making a run on the turn, scoring easily without being pushed hard in the late stages; can repeat in her current form. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:38 SAR 7th HEATHGUARD (#9, 15-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:45 LRL 9th CONGRESS HALL (#8, 6-1) saved ground near the back behind a quick pace, was held up in behind horses in upper stretch, was forced to alter course to the far outside, then showed late interest. Although winless on turf, she's run decent races on the surface, and usually offers good value. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:50 WO 8th BOSTON BAY (#8, 12-1) was softened up in a speed duel in a recent turf experiment around two turns on the inner course. The son of good grass sire Society's Chairman could be more effective in this easier main turf sprint with blinkers off. -Ron Gierkink | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:53 MTH 7th ALTERNATE REALITY (#7, 8-1) posted a sub-par figure when off the board in that last one but the extended distance of that race provides a convenient excuse; his prior figures are among the best in this field and he'll be tough to beat if he can run to them in his local debut. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:22 MTH 8th S K MOON (#5, 4-1) faded after pressing the pace in a route in her latest but she's back in a sprint in this finale and her last effort at this distance, two back, clearly makes her formidable; she was a remote 2nd in that race but the race came up extremely fast, and this filly did have some traffic trouble there. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 6:20 SAR 10th OVER AND OLLIE (#7, 6-1) is second off the layoff and dropping in class for the first time after failing to land a blow in his first start back; lightly-raced gelding was still a little green while racing competitively last summer in Canada; properly spotted for the second start of the year with Dettori taking over. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets
