SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Cherie DeVaux will split up her two talented 3-year-old turf runners, electing to start More Than Looks in Friday’s Grade 2, $500,000 National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga while sending Northern Invader to Colonial Downs for the Grade 2, $500,000 Secretariat Stakes on Aug. 12. “More Than Looks is more accomplished. He’s already won a stakes and has more turf experience,” DeVaux said. “Northern Invader is very impressive. It’s a tall task to go into a spot like the Hall of Fame.” More Than Looks drew the rail in a competitive 10-horse field set for the Hall of Fame. More Than Looks has won three of his last four starts, including the Grade 3 Manila at Belmont Park on July 7. More Than Looks will face a field that includes a trio of horses from the barn of trainer Chad Brown – Carl Spackler, Appraise, and Mischievous Angel. Also entered are General Jim, a two-time stakes winner on dirt this year, who went 2 for 3 on turf at age 2; Nagirroc, winner of the Grade 3 Futurity at 2 and the James Murphy this year; Behind Enemy Lines, Mysterious Night, Ocean Vision, and Bat Flip. :: Visit the Saratoga Handicapping Store for Past Performances, Clocker Reports, Picks, Betting Strategies, and more.
